Given that you can't lock your bags anymore, and Christian's experience with having stuff stolen out of his bags, would you really trust the process to store your bags? I wouldn't. In the case of un-accompanied bags, you can lock your bags, provided you give the keys to the airline staff. They should have that kind of an option for a storage. It's mostly in the un-loading stage that things disappear. But I'd sure double check before I ever take this option - both the security and the financial aspects. Thanks for reminding Marc! But we are talking about Nish. I am not sure he even weighs 45 Kgs, much less can carry that much. :)

Another possibility is to have your bags shipped to you via FedEx or DHL or UPS directly to your hotel/residence where you'll be staying in point C. Then only take with you what you will need for those couple of days at point B. I've heard of people doing this quite successfully. It avoids all the checkin hassles, etc. ---sig---

This is sometimes a necessity for conferences.... you load down on books and ship them all back separately. I gave up on trying to pack everything from a conference back in my bags.... _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Together, the two of us can carry 46 Kg of luggage when flying internationally, and domestic Indian flights allow the same if you are a traveller from US/Canada. Considering the fact that the high air-ticket rates are inclusive of the default baggage rates, why would I carry less than permitted :-D, especially if I have to take significant effort in deciding what to cut down from my travel list  Cheers Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach
Isn't it 46 kg per person (2*23)? I know for sure that travellers flying to/from the US can carry 64 kg (2*32). Regards Senthil _____________________________ My Blog | My Articles | My Flickr | WinMacro

If I remeber right, it's two pieces maximum and a total weight of 32. Not sure though. Cheers Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

The Ultimate Grid - The #1 MFC grid out there!Nope, the 64 kg limit is for a single person (two check-in baggages with a 32 kg limit each) and I'm pretty sure of it because I carried that amount when I came to the US 3 months back. 64 kg!!! You didn't have to bring suitcases full of rocks. We have them here. :)

Suppose you are flying from point A to point C via point B. You plan to stay a couple of days at point B, and you don't want to carry around your entire baggage during your stay at point B. The most comfortable option would be if the point B airport provided some baggage storage service. Now my question is, do airports actually provide such storage services for transit travellers? Thanks Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach
If the final destination is a hotel with pickup service at the local airport you may be able to forward some of your luggage to the final destination and have the hotel staff driver pick it up and store it at the hotel. Hotel storage is usually more reliable than public hubs [airport, railroad terminals, bus station] as they have a personal interest in satisfying the customer. The logistics of this [getting your luggage released to the hotel agent] would have to be worked out in advance. I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopes

I did this at Heathrow (London) once and it works well. Paid £5 for one day. Generally it is near the Oversized Baggage area. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry!
eh, stop bugging me about it, give it a couple of days, see what happens.
