What would you change?

Techies enjoy a better standard of living than many, and we get paid to do what we enjoy. Still, most people have goals, dreams and desires of a better life, even if they don’t believe it’s possible to achieve them. Other people. Buncha twisted, scheming, perverted hypocrites. And Bloody Marys. Not enough bartenders know how to make 'em right. Hmmm... other people into Bloody Marys... Oh - and cigarettes would give you super-human endurance instead of reduced lung capacity. Myself. 'Cause it wouldn't be fair to all the people i'd fixed to have to put up with an imperfect me. But i'd wait until after i'd enjoyed a few perfect Bloody Marys and nutritional cigs first...

I would enslave the human race (excluding myself) and start an intergalactic war which would leave me the sole ruler of the known Universe! Muahahahahahaha!!! Or maybe just get into shape and drop 50 pounds... :sigh: Josh

I'd work on my tan, and that's about it. My free time would still involve programming, but trudging my way to an office every day to write other people's software...no thanks! :)

I'd wish for (in decreasing order of importance):
- Good health and a long life for myself, my loved ones and my friends
- A balanced lifestyle
- A substantial supply of cash so that I'd never have to work for someone else, and would be able to concentrate on teaching, helping other developers and writing high-quality free software
- A flat screen TV
- A restored daily-driver antique

I would book all the first class seats for all flights everywhere, and allow anyone who is a software developer to move from stinky cramped coach seats into the first class seats for free!

I agree. I've heard several people say that if they won the lottery they would keep on working at their jobs. Personally, I think that's a load of crap. We don't like to be bored, but why would you work for someone else?

If I got paid to teach what I got paid to program I would probably be a teacher. Beside imagine what I could do with the summer off! "Until the day of his death, no man can be sure of his courage" -- Jean Anouilh

I'd get rid of my procrastination and my fear of success. BW

I imagine that those two conditions work well together. You can keep avoiding the effort required to get a higher paying job and promotion, which should assuage your fear of getting a higher paying job and promotion!! :-D
