But, it's not like you didn't already know that ? To be beaten my McDonalds is pretty lame tho, depending on the location. They don't use automatic machines in Melbourne, do they ? As far as I recall, Melbourne is where McCafe started, using Mocopan coffee. It's all marketing. I used to make and sell chocolate, and we would melt compound chocolate, add nuts, and sell it at a premium price. At our market stall, I'd have trouble keeping a straight face when people said 'it's so creamy'. That's when I learned that people will convince themselves of what they already believe, based on superficial things like our packaging. I didn't create this crime on good taste, I was just given a job there.

Most cafe's are to coffee what Coon is to cheese. Coffee and espresso machines are a hobby for me and its a huge and expensive subject. If you talk to the guys that travel around the world to compete in barista competitions you'll realise how much effort can go into that 30ml drink

Do you mean Kraft 'Cheddar' ? :P I know exactly what you're saying, an example of my clients in Hobart - the guy who kicked me out because he found out if you made cappuccino with international roast, there was no water in it ( and that made it the best you could get ).

Maybe you can help me then... I recently purchased a reusable filter for a auto-drip machine. The reason being that I want to reduce my non-recyclable paper consumption. The problem is the mesh isn't fine enough and grounds find there way into the carafe. Actually more like a fine coffee silt that makes the last cup unusable. I've talked to a couple of people and they've gone back to paper. Do you have a recommendation for a filter to try? Something to look for? Are they all like this?

I really don't care how my coffee tastes as long as it tastes like coffee. I microwave a cup up water, put a couple teaspoons of coffee grinds in and stir. I drink it like that, grinds and all.

Even Waffle House serves better coffee than Starbucks. Though that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that's read the sign on the wall in WH clearly stating: "America's best coffee". :rolleyes:

Have you tried the Blueberry Green Tea Frap. While, it doesn't resemble any green tea I've ever had, it is a refreshing summertime beverage. And at a mere $3.50 a pop, who could resist?

I use one of those, and initially had the same problem. As CG suggested, i just don't grind the coffee as fine, and use more of it. Actually tastes better that way (to me at least)...

Was looking at some gold mesh filters online, and they said they were made for medium grind, so I think that's probably what I'll have to do. Damn environment!

This is news to me. I have not had a cup of coffee at McDonald's since the 80s because back then their coffee was comparable to the stuff served at your local neighborhood bar.
