Same here. Probably a good 50 squirrels on my little block, and my newly paved street (county did the job 6 weeks ago) is already covered with mashed up acorns. Must be a bad winter coming if the squirrels are loading up on acorns already :suss:

I suppose this question is for the CP staff, but I can't think of a better place to put it. How long does it take to send out the Monday newsletter: minutes, hours? How many people does it go to: thousands, hundreds of thousands? I've always wondered about that...

Me too. But it seems that the Insider e-mails always arrive on the "right day." Perhaps they don't send out as many of those as they do the weekly Newsletter.

Insider is a smaller list (400K), can be broken up and sent in parallel, and consumes a lot less processing power to create so goes out around 5X as fast as the newsletter.

            cheers, Chris Maunder

Thanks for the info, Chris. That satisfied my curiosity. :)

I think it should have been configured as a late night Sunday through early Tuesday job considering the huge amount of members to which the newsletter has to be sent. We have take into account the various factors that the CodeProject SMTP server would be facing: 1) Slow connecting SMTP servers 2) Incoming SMTP load 3) Other system activity like Antivirus etc. I think, CP can consider geographically distributed mailing list like mailing lists for Asia Pacific can be sent on a particular day; Europe on a different day etc. That should distribute the load evenly making the server to breathe a bit more comfortably. Isn't it?

I'm here at the Airport Marriott, trying to get the damned email to work on the hotel system. Incoming works fine, but sending keeps getting a block. I wonder if someone else has been messing with the settings(it's a company laptop)? I'll give a call this evening...
