If she don't like black people then so be it, I don't care. Its her personal feelings. That letter was foolish however it is not punishable. She should have got a warning stating she will not contact the naigbors she intimidated.

I think there is a fine line between free speech and inciting fear/violence. If the free speech is directed on one person to incite fear then I think that is heinous--but I don't believe in hate crimes. A white family could do the same to another white resident based on religion, sex, sexual orientation etc. Intimidation is intimidation.

Evidently the woman's own lawyer felt she had made one. If he thought she had not, he would not have advised a guilty plea. You seem to forget that the woman plead guilty - i.e. she admitted to committing whatever the hell she was charged with.

Sure, racism can lead to crimes. But so can strawberry ice-cream and Hello Kitty. As much as I may personally find racism reprehensible, I don't think it should be illegal (within the boundaries of this discussion).
