sorry if it's repost... check the link.... http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/feb08/02-21ExpandInteroperabilityPR.mspx[^] To enhance connections with third-party products, Microsoft will publish on its Web site documentation for all application programming interfaces (APIs) and communications protocols in its high-volume products that are used by other Microsoft products. Developers do not need to take a license or pay a royalty or other fee to access this information. Open access to this documentation will ensure that third-party developers can connect to Microsoft’s high-volume products just as Microsoft’s other products do. A Brief History of Open at Microsoft ... http://port25.technet.com/archive/2008/02/22/a-brief-history-of-open-at-microsoft.aspx[^] In a nutshell, the documentation for the APIs, document formats, and protocols used in Windows Vista, the .NET Framework, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, Office 2007, Exchange Server 2007, and Office SharePoint Server 2007 will be made publically available. All developers will be able to access the documentation with no need to sign a license or pay any fee. :) Looks like the Redmond giant will do well to keep it's No.1 Spot... :) Looking forward to the API's :-D
