Jason Jystad wrote: I was having trouble with the mouseovers. I wasn't able to get them working consistantly. I shall have to take a look at how you did it. I streamlined the code a little and made it more Mozilla friendly. Also added a few little tweaks such as toggle mode on the wrapping functions (ie if you select a word and click B then the text is wrapped in <b>'s; click B again the wrapping is removed. Also modifed the InLinkErAtor a wee bit) Spent an hour this morning trying to get Mozilla to work with the textRange and finally gave up when I found an article that discusses the Mozilla broken Range property. I also convincingly broke the Netscape 4 version of the toolbar but I am so over Netscape that I'm no longer willing to support such a buggy application. Besides, we all use IE here right? right?? ;) Jason Jystad wrote: Or is it just me? It's just you ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

Chris Maunder wrote: I streamlined the code a little and made it more Mozilla friendly. Ah, I was just about to take a pass at making it work in Mozilla. Chris Maunder wrote: Also added a few little tweaks such as toggle mode on the wrapping functions Hahahahaha! Great minds think alike. I don't think I posted it to the demo page, but I added the same feature to the toolbar right at the end. :) Chris Maunder wrote: Also modifed the InLinkErAtor a wee bit Really? what did you do to it? It still seems to work the same. Chris Maunder wrote: Spent an hour this morning trying to get Mozilla to work with the textRange and finally gave up when I found an article that discusses the Mozilla broken Range property. Yeah, that was the biggest thorn in my side with cross browser compatibility. The range object really is useful, but here we are with more cross-browser problems. ;p The thing that I got stuck on trying to do was to get the whole thing into an external javascript library. That way the code would be centralized and we would gain an effective speed up for our modem using bretheren. Unfortunately I kept running into strange side effects from dropping the code into a library. Code that worked right before would stop working, either the code on the page or the library code. Nothing that I could quite debug either. Never did get it work out completely.

I am sorry Roger, I was thinking the whole time I was there that I wished I could give you a call. All I could think of was: "Damn, I wish I had an Internet connection so I could hook up with Roger!" It truly never occurred to me to look in the phone book. :-O Must of been the stress of the situation. Yeah, that's the ticket, I am not that much of a geek. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!

While trying to find a Motel in Kingman we broke down again. We managed to squeek into a Motel for the night and they towed us into Bullhead the next morning. The Hilltop Shell there is one of their repair depots. They fixed what they thought was the problem and we got under way but then the AC in my car stopped working and we had to get that fixed. After a night there we tried to get under way but the truck was having troubles on the grades out of Bullhead so we went back and told them the truck was having problems. They patted us on the head, (figuratively speaking), and told us we were imagining things so we shrugged and tried again. This time the entire cooling system on the truck shat itself and poured out over the highway. We went back to them in my car and did the "I Told You So" Waltz. :) They towed us back in and then cross-loaded us into a new truck. by then it was too late and we stayed overnight one more time. In the morning we got under way and the rest of the trip went more or less OK.

Great news! I'm still looking for work, doing a bit of consulting-type stuff, fixing PCs and helping small companies with their little networks. I've been doing a lot of volunteer stuff, and getting some consulting fees for helping a local charity get incorporated and registered as a tax-exempt org. I wonder how little groups ever do it, the IRS puts so much paperwork and repetitive crap in the way. It's educational for me, at least. "Knock, knock." "Who's there?" "Recursion." "Recursion who?" "Knock, knock..."
