This may be old news (hopefully it's not a repost). Eric Lippert responded to the heated discussion we had the other day here. See http://blogs.msdn.com/ericlippert/archive/2008/10/08/the-future-of-c-part-one.aspx[^]

Exactly! I say we start an online Internot petition to shut him down. That'll show him the wisdom of the crowds, the righteous wrath of the many unsung heroes out there, the outraged obsolescence of the omnipotent group-think!

"pointed me at this long thread on a third-party forum" Is there some reason he can't simply write "CodeProject"? That's kind of lame otherwise.

I'm pretty sure there's some sort of training they put all new MS employees through, where they learn 1) how to write long, boring essays without actually providing any useful information, 2) how to avoid ever mentioning any product or company names that don't belong to Microsoft, 3) how to write about Microsoft implementations of ancient Unix tools such that they sound new and "innovative", 4) how to close bugs / squelch ideas using only references to secret priority rankings on a private, internal product management systems.

You're right. These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets.
