        Good luck, man! Until recently(3-4 mths ago) I was on a 12 month slump of waiting tables. i got laid off prior to that. I got by, financially, just fine, but it sucks doing work you dislike. Although, I did have plenty of time to think about things, and met some really cool people. BW {insert witty/thought-provoking saying here}

        Thanks Dude. Waiting tables definitely would've paid more than manual labor but I got burnt out of that while in school. Hopefully I can get back to software development. Josh Knox that-guy.net

                    Actually the I haven't done any web development in a year. If I started into it again, I would probably check out asp.NET before I did anything else. A year ago though, I refused to even look at asp, because it was all written in VBscript (dirty nasty garbage). All the same, PHP is pretty cool. Ryan Johnston

                          The cool thing about ASP.NET is that it's language independent. You can use C#, VB.NET, J#, JScript.NET, or any other language that rests on the .NET platform. PHP for speed definitely, whether for linux, windows or whatever...but ASP if required for nt server or other servers if supported. I try to stay away from asp cause the speed and stability just isn't there. Apache all the way, IIS can stuff it...the security hole god of all servers heh. ColdFusion isn't a bad server though, that is for linux. It's unstable and a resource hog on nt...on linux it's almost 150% faster. As for the new .NET server, not running my server any time soon or ever. FreeBSD all the way :-D

                                      ColdFusion as a language is pretty dirty though. I used it up through CF4. It's really tailored to rapid development, but for any kind of large project (and I have done a few using it) I found it to be pretty crapy (Do they have functions yet?). I can't argue that it isn't very very easy to use though. Ryan Johnston

                                          I agree. Give it time and it might just have its uses for large corporate database systems some day. I find it the easiest to work with when it comes to databases. Heh, it's like vb in a way, If blah = blah Then blahblah LOL. I use it on my nt system which is networked with my freebsd system for certain database functionality thats about it.
