    I'm using Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP Pro. My CodeProject icon's background went from orange to white and I was doing a bit of sleuthing...wanted to know where the original comes from etc so I dragged my CP desktop icon onto Notepad. Wow...have you guys seen all the information being stored in there?:

    [InternetShortcut]
    URL=http://www.codeproject.com/
    IDList=
    IconFile=http://www.codeproject.com/favicon.ico
    IconIndex=1
    [{000214A0-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
    Prop3=19,2
    [DEFAULT]
    BASEURL=http://www.codeproject.com/
    [DOC#439]
    BASEURL=http://www.codeproject.com/script/Ann/ServeHTML.aspx?C=False&id=6234
    ORIGURL=/script/Ann/ServeHTML.aspx?C=False&id=6234
    [DOC#439#4]
    BASEURL=http://view.atdmt.com/MRT/iview/thcdpyou0230000823mrt/direct/01?click=
    ORIGURL=http://view.atdmt.com/MRT/iview/thcdpyou0230000823mrt/direct/01?click=
    ...
    ...
    ...

    Update: It seems that it's part of the URL file specification which can be found here[^]. It has to do with storing the URLs of frames, apparently. If you keep your icons for months or years, a large accumulation happens which I find slows the browser so it might be worthwhile to delete it from time to time.
