Host Recommendations

I know this question has been asked numerous times in the past but the search mechanism was broken and times change... Basically I'm looking to move an existing website which basically has a few "static" pages to a cheaper alternative than the existing provider (Demon). By static I mean the content doesn't change frequently but is loaded via PHP at the moment to provide some form of CMS. So the only requirements are it supports either PHP4+ (ideally 5) or ASP.NET (ideally 3.x for MVC support). There are also multiple domains pointing to the same site so administering these for no extra cost would be great. Things that would be nice to have:
- Multiple FTP accounts
- Email (Google / Live Apps for your Domain is a possibility as things stand but alternatives are being looked for)
Let's put a cap as well for nothing more than $15 / month (or UK equivalent). BTW: we're a UK company. Support quality is a deciding factor. One that I have heard recommended in the past is hostgator[^] and their Baby plan looks more than enough, basically would anyone here recommend them or suggest alternatives? Cheers, Ed

I've used DiscountASP.Net for a few years and had no trouble at all. I also like the idea that since I am in the UK when I need support it's not usually at their peak times so I get a really good response. If uou do a quick trawl for discount coupons you can usually find one for 6 months free/discount hosting or similar.

I have a reseller account with HostGator and have been absolutely delighted with their tech support. They are a CentOS Linux shop, although there are plans to add Windows hosting; I don't know if that's available yet, however. I can recommend them without reservation.

I'd highly recommend Bytemark[^] - they're small and run by geeks who'll help you out themselves when something's wrong (rather than farming your request off to a pool of cluess drones using flashcards) £15/month gets you a decent sized linux based VM, which can be set up using their simple virtual hosting system which wraps up most of the linux admin stuff for you, and allows you pretty much to run things as you desire (unlimited vhosts / domains, email addresses, etc) since you have full root access to the machine.

That does look like a very interesting solution. I might look into it personally, however for the purposes of this site it's a bit over the top and seems to require too much "administration". Although that wouldn't matter too much, however the bummer is that on-top of the hosting there'd be the cost of the domain names while other people offer these included (to my understanding anyway).
