Screw them. They won't get a thing from me unless I give it away because I want to. Neither should you or anyone else :) It's funny how many Linux Zelots and/or GNU-wannabes have distorted the principle of freedom. The true spirit of GNU is to produce free stuff (with the exception that the stuff cannot be unfree) and the stuff should be free as in free speech - not free beer. I don't know how many times Stallman has repeated this goal - but still the Linux zealots and the GNU-wannabes still think about free beer. I've got news for them - beer isn't free until you're offered one. And isn't it also very bizarre that Linux Zealots - the main defenders of GNU/GPL - utterly hate the father of GNU/GPL? :) It's friday evening and it's time for :beer: -- Please state the nature of your medical emergency.

"Free" in "free speech" means uncensored by government. It means people are able to express what they want and charge what they will for that expression and the government can't do a damn thing about it (though they try.) The founders of the United States also recognized that speech could, and should, be owned by the originator for a time and mandated that copyright and patent laws be created (though both have been abused beyond belief.)

Well, of course you can charge whatever you want for whatever you do :) But I don't think that's what Stallman refers to. I think it's the fact that you are free to speak, and no one can take your spoken word from you and censor it. Hi, Joe. There's no hatred of Linux, at least on my part. In fact, my first professional gig ages ago was in QNX, a real time PC UNIX clone. Many is the day I worked in DOS and missed the horsepower of a good operating system. However, there's definately a pissing contest between Microsoft and Linux, given that MS is the huge, successful company people love to hate and the Linux camp is full of young, idealistic people who think that programming is all about art, money is evil and technology should be free. The reason I poke the Linux guys in the ribs here & there is because of that notion, hence my joke about them working for free. I'm a mercenary and as such have no brand loyalty. I don't care nearly as much about which operating system I'm working in as I do about my hourly rate! In general we're just having a little fun with it all. Try not to take it too seriously.
