I prefer the "bag of wind" description myself. ;P If football was about the game they'd have had a video referee like they do in rugby and many other sports, but sadly it's about the money, taking a dive if an opponent comes within 20 feet of you, and extreme tribalism.

Now you as an Ozzie will understand at least that whilst Australia are not very good at Football, you can play Cricket at quite a high standard, in fact nearly as good as England, and when it comes to Rugby world cups you always play well enough to get to face England, and then go home.

Now now I'm the first to admit the Poms are on top at the moment, you've got the ashes, you won that silly 20/20 cup, you've beaten us endlessly at Rugby and even at Rugby League (one of the few games crapper than soccer) I think but trust me, the soccer world cup is ours.

Alas, like a fleeting summer shower, those memories have evaporated, I look now only to the future, the horizon of endless English Victories.

Ha, I'm living in Amsterdam at the moment and playing in the corporate comp here. Judging by the first round of the world cup all we need to take you guys down is for me to bring a couple of my cloggy friends home. That was almost as bad as Pakistan last time, I hope you didn't let your coach spend the night alone in his hotel room.

Australia will win the soccer world cup this year. Last time we were beaten by Italy when they cheated and were given a penalty in the dying minutes of our second group game. Had the referee not been looking the other way it would have been a draw. Therefore we were at least as good as the winners of the last world cup. All of our players have now been to acting school and we feel we can get opportunistic penalties as well as any of the European teams. We've also studied the recent French hand ball incident and feel more comfortable with cheating. We'd not realised that shrugging our shoulders and admitting to it afterwards made all the guilt go away. To top it all off it's been brought to our attention that most of the European league games have been fixed for years. Any idea what the going rate to fix a match is? We plan to pass the hat around before we come. Soccer (football) is a crap game.

So, you admit that you are good enough to cheat to European standards. I hate to break it to you, but we're all amateurs beside the South Americans (I'll exclude Brazil from that statement because they are good enough to have us whipped before we even take to the pitch).

I'd 5 you, but you forgot the Germans... Even without Ballack they're always a factor.

I just don't get the point in such a big thing being made of 22 grown men kicking a bag of wind around a grass field. Especially when they get paid such ridiculous amounts for what amounts to 'feeding the mob' with their achievements. Give them chainsaws and no rules and I might start to take an interest.

Only if you're watching Australia play it!
