Why not pay for a one off add here to see if you can get some responses, I have no idea what that would cost though. Personally I'd start by canvassing some of the names here and see if they are interested in putting up a support site, utilities for ??? product. Problem is you may end up with 15,000 juniors who will take more of your time than you are willing to spend. If you got 5-6 decent coders who are willing to accept titbits like this then it would be a win. If CM needs to be paid then there should be some sort of arrangement.

Because we're in a recession, budgets are super tight and there is no value in it for the company. The api is free, the software can be used with the api for free for an unlimited amount of time. The support is free to developers via our api forum. All we want to do is connect developers with our customers who want custom coding done. We ask for nothing in return, no cut, no conditions at all. We even have a forum area just for developers and trainers and 3rd party people to post their availability - for free. I can't justify paying to advertise for that and I can also see how it doesn't really fit into anything currently here so I don't blame Chris for what he said those years ago. Just an old fashioned impasse I guess.

ahhhh so CP is happy to take the input of programmers for content and thus increases CP's net worth, but not happy to assist them them to make some money out of it UNLESS CP clips the ticket along the way. Bryce (dancing along a line)

I don't blame Chris at all for his decision. It's an unusual sort of thing and doesn't fit into the mold of what they are accustomed to I guess.

Actuially it sounds like you have done everything you can except put a link in your Sig, which would get a lot of interest after this thread :-D And yes I understand your reasons for not doing this, exposing your successful SW company to some of these morons would be frightening.

Actually a few reasons: 1) I'm respecting Chris' wishes, 2) I value my anonymity here so I can say what I want without it reflecting on the company 3) I don't actually care enough about this to push it, it's not my department (other than I'm the one who gets asked where support should look for a source of outside developers to point customers to). 4) all the morons, just kidding there are very few morons here. :)

I would suggest that you individually contact 2-3 CPian article authors that impress you (from 3rd world locations). Many of them would be happy to work for rates that are quite affordable by N.A. standards.

              Regards, Nish

With this as a primary reason it would not take many disgruntled idiots sour your CP experience. As Nish suggested get support to contact direct via article/rep etc.
