i'm working as database and corporate application programmer. a huge ambition that i must success in IT. to motivate myself that success is possible, i'm waiting for windows phone 8. planning to write and sell application in wp marketplace as my side earnings at home. i'm not sure this way lead me to a brighter future, but i'm walking towards it right now. problem starts, at first, i'm working for experience, not money. but after a year, i realize that i can't keep depending on experience, most people work for money. i search for a better company and better prospect, and when i found one, i'm shocked. the director said that they don't need a programmer, but there's always a place for me. wages is not a problem anymore since they offer double. if i'm useful, one day i will co-operate with him, not working for him. what he said is true, a lot of people success and now co-operate with him. this is a chance that everybody wants. i love IT, it's like i'm proud of being a programmer. admired by a lot of friends. feeling like unique. read an interesting news about new gadget. being the first to use it. but i have to leave it all, and learn business from zero. i'm confused and sad. if you were me, what will you do? sorry for long post, but i love to browse code project and that's why i'm posting this here. thank you, Ahri

Take the job until you find a programming job. It's easier to find a job if you already have one.

Not a hard decision. Being a programmer is, and will always be, an ongoing education. Plan your work (or goal), and work your plan. If you commit to being great at what you do, the experience and salary will come as a by-product.

This part to me sounds like you are going to head off to a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) company... Of course, you might not be, but that's what it sounds like to me. Is the company you are considering going to legitimate? Is it a real (salaried) position?

I'll support Damian's answer - this sounds like a scam. I'm a lot older than most here, and I've seen a bunch of cons, so I can say with confidence that this stinks of fraud. Get it in writing before you lift a finger for this guy, then still be cautious. If a man's word is worthless, his contract is equally without value, but you have to take some chances in life. I wouldn't touch this "offer" with someone else's stick, but you've got to make your own choices and learn your own hard lessons. Good luck, and don't give up on programming!

he is the type of director that sincerely raise his employee epicly. he's brother of my auntie. a lot of people became director because of him. why? before he became director, he's treated like this, raised by his director. and now he is ten times better than his director. how he raise employee? if A is useful after working a few years for him, he'll find an opportunity, build a new company, apply A as a director and the revenue is divided by half. that's what happened to my cousin. but don't think he'll make it easy for me, just by talking with him, i'm 100% sure that he won't raise me like other if i'm useless. yes i believe he is a great man, it's just hard to let go my hobby and interest for a better chance and future. programming is rooted in me, it's hard to let go like this. most of my family don't believe that selling application, games, and program can make me happy one day. but after reading all of the reply, i think i won't stop waiting for windows phone 8 even if i work for him, i believe i can. thank you very much guys, once again thank you.

Well then, if you trust him, go for it; it's hard to live on breadcrusts and hope. But there's no reason to give up programming. It doesn't take an office or an employer, though working full time will take a big bite out of the time you have to apply to it. Carry on... :)

So do I, it's technically more descriptive. Your aunt the sister of your mother or father, and your uncle their brother. The spouse of your aunt or uncle isn't truly, implicitly an aunt or uncle of you, except in some weird families.

he is the type of director that sincerely raise his employee epicly. he's brother of my auntie. a lot of people became director because of him. why? before he became director, he's treated like this, raised by his director. and now he is ten times better than his director. how he raise employee? if A is useful after working a few years for him, he'll find an opportunity, build a new company, apply A as a director and the revenue is divided by half. that's what happened to my cousin. but don't think he'll make it easy for me, just by talking with him, i'm 100% sure that he won't raise me like other if i'm useless. yes i believe he is a great man, it's just hard to let go my hobby and interest for a better chance and future. programming is rooted in me, it's hard to let go like this. most of my family don't believe that selling application, games, and program can make me happy one day. but after reading all of the reply, i think i won't stop waiting for windows phone 8 even if i work for him, i believe i can. thank you very much guys, once again thank you.

i'm working as database and corporate application programmer. a huge ambition that i must success in IT. to motivate myself that success is possible, i'm waiting for windows phone 8. planning to write and sell application in wp marketplace as my side earnings at home. i'm not sure this way lead me to a brighter future, but i'm walking towards it right now. problem starts, at first, i'm working for experience, not money. but after a year, i realize that i can't keep depending on experience, most people work for money. i search for a better company and better prospect, and when i found one, i'm shocked. the director said that they don't need a programmer, but there's always a place for me. wages is not a problem anymore since they offer double. if i'm useful, one day i will co-operate with him, not working for him. what he said is true, a lot of people success and now co-operate with him. this is a chance that everybody wants. i love IT, it's like i'm proud of being a programmer. admired by a lot of friends. feeling like unique. read an interesting news about new gadget. being the first to use it. but i have to leave it all, and learn business from zero. i'm confused and sad. if you were me, what will you do? sorry for long post, but i love to browse code project and that's why i'm posting this here. thank you, Ahri

Presuming this isn't a pyramid type structure, it still sounds like some sort of 'selling'. That is quite bit a different than programming.

Presuming the other job doesn't consume 80+ hours a week (for that 'double' money) then why would not both work together?

Hi Ahri, While no one but you can, ultimately, decide what is of true value (short-term, and long-term) at this point in your life, in my humble opinion there's a little more information needed here about your current situation, and the future prospect 1. does your current paid position leave you enough time open to train yourself in specific technical areas that are probably going to be "marketable" in the future, or leave you with enough time to really pursue creating some specific prototype of an application on a specific platform ? 2. does the non-programming position offered pay you a salary every month independently of whether you sell anything, or recruit other people to work for you who you then receive a commission from when they sell something ? This is the "MLM question," re-stated. 3. for how long a period of time, if you take the new position, will you be so occupied in learning how to do whatever is required to perform and "get up to speed," that you will have no time for technical learning outside the job ? Is that an "unknown" at this point. Say a little more, and I think you'll get some interesting feedback. good luck, Bill
