I just had a WTF moment right now. I got to work, and while reading my emails, there was a particular one from LinkedIn, saying I had two messages awaiting in my inbox. It never occurred to me to check the email address, I just took a quick look at the "From" name. Now, the email also offered a link to go directly to the LinkedIn Inbox, which I clicked, and then AVG went haywire, blocking threats. Thank God for that, but really? Clicking on random links? Shame on me today, I think I won't be doing any real work, for fear I might break something :)

Me and my colleague have something we do. Whenever one of us causes a major WTF moment (no matter if it's code or algorithm or documentation or just being outright stupid), tells the other one to slap him over the head. Now, we work in an open space, so it's totally visible to anyone. After we started doing this, I saw other teams picking up on it too. It also seems to be working, apparently better stuff gets checked in lately. This however...

Just looked in my spam folder. Three of the 9 there are "LinkedIn" as you describe. Different nasty-URLs in each message (three identical links per message). Cute the way the anchor tag has a title linkedin to keep the illusion going a little longer. Cheers, Peter

I had similar, but it was trapped by my spam filter. The fact that the name of a person mentioned in the email was darren wahwassuck made me smile.

Nah, somehow this one passed the spam filter. Also, it wasn't conspicuous at all, and seeing how I usually get 4-5 legitimate emails per day from LinkedIn...
