Good for you. That is a great achievement.

Veni, Vidi, Vici! I will also state "Ventosa Viri Restabit" (This could mean 'Be Steadfast in the face of the Winter Storms', but if you remember that the V is pronounced as a W then you will see the sage advice offered for the competitors in the Roman Marathon) OK, Pedant Alert! The Rome Marathon? Surely Pheidippides was a Greek Runner? (For UKians old enough, it was done barefoot, as they had not heard of Snickers back then).

--------------------------------- I will never again mention that I was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel. Dalek Dave CCC Link[^]

Congratulations on finishing and with a good time as well. I hope the wounds are not too bad. It's so inspiring that I might even get back on my bike if it wasn't for the weather here at the moment. :)

How long do you estimate it took you to reach that level of athleticism?

I started in 2009. In the last two years I trained more assiduously (three times a week).

Holy jebus. I ran a few months last year and have been running for about a month this year (had an injury that prevented intense exercise for a few months). By the sound of it, maybe I'll be able to do a marathon in a year or two. Thanks for the info.

Well, as far as I know, you should never pause the training (if possible, of course).
