It's a well-known fact that the vast majority of people can't stand being alone, and need to be in some kind of communication with other people at all times -- hence the overwhelming popularity of mobile phones and social media, and even fora like this one (although I think people come here when they don't want to work, rather than to not be alone). People generally are a pack of bluddy idiots who don't have enough ideas in their heads to keep them busy for five minutes.

Indeed. I don't own a cell phone, I don't have a twitter or facebook account, and I actually prefer being left the f*ck alone for extended periods of time.

But would you do it? :-) Then you should consider the possibility that the train line you stand above has overhead lines with 25kv. (650V third rail sounds more like the underground to me.) Still probably safe actually. But would you do it?

Not really - not just because of the risk, but because I don't consider it acceptable to pee in public. It's bad enough having to clean dog pee off car and motorcycle tyres - human pee I don't want to have to clean up, so why should I make someone else do it?

Now the real question is: What would it look like if more than one person was in the room, and pushing the button would shock at least one of them. Now is it going to be boredom to drive those people to push the button?! ... probably not!

You've been also spared from caring for disabled elderly persons (like uhmmm your parents or grand paremts maybe) 3. Urine is one of those bodily secretions with the least amount of bacterial contamination compared to what other orifices have to offer. So what's the deal with that? I'm a hiker, a biker (bicycles) and a fisherman and pretty please dispatch of my accumulated liquid wastes however fits the purpose. I'd press it. Probably not 190 times though. But after a couple of minutes I'd get curious about that shock. A minute more and I'd have to know. Of course I'd be thinking the whole time - about that shock.

You'd take wrong as well - I've changed my share of nappies and wiped my mother's bottom when she had her brain tumour. Doesn't mean I want to clean up after strangers, any more than I want to go round with a pocket full of pooper scooper bags and clean up after other people's dogs!

I did not read the article. But I'm pretty sure that button was red. Interesting buttons usually are. And now, I ask, who in this whole wide world (www) would NOT press a red button???? (Especially if it has some text like: "don't press the button" or "launch" on it). I'm done here. I'm going to find buttons to press. And I hope I did not push somebody's buttons here.

I won’t not use no double negatives.

LOL. And that's the thing with psychology experiments anything goes... you tell them the button zaps the other person, but it zaps themselves.

A combination of simple cost benefit analysis and curiosity. Clearly, the shock wouldn't be strong enough to kill you, so why not?

Not really - not just because of the risk, but because I don't consider it acceptable to pee in public. It's bad enough having to clean dog pee off car and motorcycle tyres - human pee I don't want to have to clean up, so why should I make someone else do it?

I'd press it. Probably not 190 times though. But after a couple of minutes I'd get curious about that shock. A minute more and I'd have to know. Of course I'd be thinking the whole time - about that shock.

So I thought as well - I mean it couldn't be that bad. I actually wondered about that aspect of curiosity so much I actually read the article, and - lo and behold! - it goes on to state
