it doesn't seem that different at first glance (except the taskbar is locked at the bottom now :/ ) But I trust it extract even more performance from the hardware... Although I heard bug report to the contrary, it was marked as urgent bug...

They are. I'm thinking about all problems that you might or might not get with updated programs and settings and such. From experience, I prefer a clean slate for new major versions.

I do too. I just don't want to spend the money on Win11. It's not even that I can't afford it. It's the principle. I bought Win10 (again) back in january when i bought my machine. At this point it just seems like throwing good money after bad if I make that purchase.

Your app might need some kind of manifest.

Nope. It's just not supported yet.... [Windows 11 integration · Issue #4140 · MahApps/MahApps.Metro · GitHub](https://github.com/MahApps/MahApps.Metro/issues/4140) In a few month, when the important stuff in my app works... I might see if I can contribute :)

I always get the license with my hardware. So I guess you're using a VM. In that case you could probably make a copy of the VM that you can upgrade, then create a new VM and move that license to it. Would have to check the license agreement to make sure though.

only in some case with some hardware... I think, I forgot the name, but those SSD that look like a memory chip, are supposed to be slower. Got one on as my main drive though, not noticing anything (not that I am taxing the system anyway) (by supposed to be, I mean it's a bug, of course)

Yeah, I run NVMe. If they slowed that down they can take a running jump. I'll wait for them to fix it as I tear the crap out of that drive.

No, I got it with my hardware. I consider that buying it, particularly since I had the option of No operating system, or linux or windows pro (each for different $$$ - well linux was free) when I purchased the system.

There are some points that might not affect you. But the good news is that there's a clean install option when upgrading.

Oh, that's good to know. The issue for me then is losing all my stuff. Although I keep my Documents/Photos/Videos/Music mapped to my D: drive so at least I won't lose that. Still, moving an OS is a huge amount of work. I think I'll wait for 11 to mature some.

I wouldn't need a backup of my drive so much as something that keeps all my programs and stuff installed. It's not going to happen. That means at least a day of rebuilding my environment.

Or I'll just wait for this install to get creaky and slow like they always do, and then spend the time rebuilding the environment. :) That's what I usually do.

Well I need to be able to support my systems even if I'm on vacation (Luckily that never happens, but anyway) so I need to use a laptop. They seldom last ten years. Mine usually lasts five (with extended warranty).

I've had everything that could happen to a laptop happen to my laptop, including getting it stolen out of my home WHILE I WAS SLEEPING (made me want to get a dog) That's why I don't buy them anymore, but then I'm not in your shoes.

I've had everything that could happen to a laptop happen to my laptop, including getting it stolen out of my home WHILE I WAS SLEEPING (made me want to get a dog) That's why I don't buy them anymore, but then I'm not in your shoes.

I wouldn't use a laptop if it was for personal use. But I need to be able to lug it around. And work from both home or office.
