After having some busy months (had my best month ever in June), it's summer and my customers are taking things slow and everyone's on vacation. Took Monday off, did things slow on Tuesday and today I'm taking half a day off. All work and no play makes Sander a dull boy, I should do this more often

It is really slow indeed. Somehow even though I am in a high demand role at work, this week feels like vacation. I am off from tomorrow on official vacation and I hope to get things going once back.

took my first week off (this week) in years. Most of the time when I take time off, I'm either working on some other customer issue, or fixing things around the house. I'm up in the NC mountains and doing a lot of reading, sleeping, and spending time with my bride of 44 years (tomorrow). To be honest, I felt so guilty taking the time off, I just had to convince myself that it was medically necessary (it is). Clearing your mind allows you to get back to work with vigor. We're already planning next year's trip to Israel.

With limited desire to travel these days, I've been using my vacation by taking Mondays off all summer. Three day weekends every week and I avoid the Monday stress. Fridays are usually more relaxed than Mondays, so I prefer to work Friday over Monday.

Lucky you. Since I retired, I don't get any days off :)

Sounds like a good plan. You don't have to travel on your days off. In fact, I take two weeks during Christmas break to just sit at home. Every day I'm out of the house is a day lost.

In years!? That doesn't sound healthy :omg: As an employee, it's not even legal in The Netherlands. If you did that to your employees you could get in big trouble (even if the employee wanted it). Of course us big time CEO's don't have that kind of luxury!

Never really liked Dream Theater, save for their album Metropolis Pt. 2, for some reason. Biggest reason is I really don't like the singers voice :~

:) read the first line completely. I'm pretty much wrapping up my life project: all children to adulthood, none in jail, etc. This is my first summer essentially as an empty nester. So, taking the family (and I have a *large* one) on vacation is not a vacation to my wife and I - just a relocation of where we do all the work. Many times, I would take time off, and you'd find me painting bedrooms, yard work, fixing cars, etc. Still not a vacation. Next year, if things work out, we'll be in Israel for two weeks.

That explains it. Sounds good though. I know people who don't like it when their kids leave the house (my own father included). I even know someone who got depressed and divorced her husband as a result :omg: With such a large family (I'm guessing 42 children!) I can see why you'd enjoy it though :D Good luck with the empty nest and have fun in Israel, sounds great! :D
