    > http://www.doublenickels.com/page76.html X| Great, they managed to f*** it up once again. On the bright side, that means it'll keep me from doing something stupid like buying myself one until they redesign it *again*. And then the cycle will repeat itself.

The 60's and 70's Shelby editions really kick ass!! They were biult with 289ci. HiPo engines and also the bog dog 428ci. Cobra Jet , and the 429ci Super Cobra Jet. I saw a GT 350H that was made for Hertz Rent A Car that was restored, an elderly couple was driving it in Torrance CA. I'm hoping that someday Ford will re-produce these Muscle Mustangs, and offer them at a reasonable price. Tony

The Shelby never came with a 429. 65 was only available with a 289 (GT-350 and GT-350R) 66 was only available with a 289 (GT-350 and GT-350H), but you could order one with a supercharger (very rare) 67 came with a 289 (GT-350), a 427 (GT-500), or a 428 (also a GT-500) - 428 wasn't nearly as stout as the 427 68 came with a 302 (GT-350), 427 (early models) and 428 (GT-500), or 428CJ (GT-500KR) 69, and 70 came with a 302 or 351w (GT-350), or 428CJ (GT-500) The '70 models were simply left over 69's with cosmetic and VIN changes. The SCJ was used in Torinos and Marauders. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 "You won't like me when I'm angry..." - Dr. Bruce Banner Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

Didn't the 429SCJ also come in 71 Mustangs with the Drag Pack Option? (Mach1, not Shelby, since 70 was their last year...) "It takes a minimum of redesign to turn a crucifix into a pogo stick"

A handful of 71 Mach 1's were equpped with the scj motor. Not all were dragpack. The Mach 1's went all the way to 1973. More accurately, Shelby's last new car was made for the 69 model year. the 70 models were simply left over 69's with the trim updated and had the vin numbers changed. Shelby's didn't have a 429 option.

I must have been thinking of the Boss 429 Super Cobra Jet. http://www.mustangmonthly.com/techarticles/97198/[^] Tony
