Request Assistance re/ Tight SqueezeAs far as i know, Absorbed Glass Mat, lead acid batteries are sealed, but internally vented, and do not swell like LIPOs. Is it possible ye missed a fastener, screw, clip, or slide-groove, or possible spot of glue securing the battery? Latex gloves and safety glasses are your friends. Not much to lose prying it out, after double checking for fasteners. There may be .pdf instructions on apc support site, google, or a youtube video. They are designed to be replaceable. Unless thrashed, seems wasteful to simply bin it.

Samsung Monitor (Smart TV) woesA $25 4k TiVo dongle would get you NF on a dumbed down TV. It comes with a very nice little remote with it's own 'source' button, and dedicated NF button.

Desk RecommendationTired of over-priced pressboard crap falling apart, I bought a beautiful massive solid oak mid fifties executive desk from FB Marketplace for $80. Screwed a couple harbor freight moving dollies to the bottom (out of sight), one on each side, so the legs sit 2cm off the floor for easy moving -- very stable, very comfortable, lots of leg room, has a factory foot rest bar, and pull out writing surfaces on each side, and plenty of drawers. It will easily outlast me. IMNSHO Life is too short to tolerate pressboard. Consider buying an antique. Good luck in your search. ~jm

Can recommend Wyze CamsI've been happliy using Wansview Q5 Wifi/ethernet indoor cameras. meh optics, 2k resolution. Pan, and tilt, micro sd slot. Very stable. Affordable on Amazon. They must make all their money from cloud services, Cannot imagine how they could otherwise profit selling the hardware so cheaply, dunno, I don't subscribe. Decent functional, basic Android app, adjustable motion sensing and alerts, two way coms, etc. Even more 'basic' mostly functional windows app. I may fire up my rountoit, and look into using blue iris one of these days

Dear Samsung Tablet Software DevelopersI keep four scattered around close to hand. Paid extra for the S-Pen models, because they have more memory than non S-pen ones, so are a bit more responsive. Never found use for the pen. Bought tri-fold folios for comfortable handling purposes, and use them for reading and research off and on all day. The bluetooth is very useful, paired with the home, office, or auto audio system buss. They seem to hold up reasonably well. Had to replace the battery in one 2016 model, but that was on me, from leaving it charging 24/7. I've had no issues with samsung crapware. They play well with HD homerun too

Constantly leaving phone in charger...aye or nay?Last year, I cooked both my galaxy S7 phone, and Tab A batteries by leaving them plugged in all the time. Took my phone to a repair shop, and the technician said never to do that. That was a $95 lesson learned for a replacement battery. I didn't trust myself to replace it myself. But after watching him do my phone, I went home and bought a $14 replacement battery for the tablet from Amazon and easily did the tablet myself using a guitar pick. The battery seller advised to charge at ~20% and unplug at 85% for maximum battery life. So far, both still function as new following that advice ~John

Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening meYes, this is the way I read your first post, and why I recommended trying a different power supply to boot with. I hesitate to think a sputtering brownout spike would get past both the UPS and the wall wart power supply to zap the MB. Hope you can get it sorted without losing the NUC.

Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening meIf you have another NUC, just for the heck of it I might try using the other power supply once to see if it makes any difference. If the MB died, it may be mearly coincidental. I hesitate to believe a spike would cross both the protected UPS and a wall wart to kill the board, unless it was a direct strike between the nearby transformer pole and your house. You could also attempt reflashing the bios from a USB thumb drive to see if it might post afterwards. As last resort, swap memory sticks to see if it posts. Good luck ~John

KVM SwitchNot to sound like Spok, but the HDMI switches all handle audio through the HDMI spec anyway, however a seperate additional audio port may prove beneficial -- one cannot have too many ports -- additionally, I found none that handle USB 3 at the time of my search, but also later found it was not really as necessary as I had first thought ~John

Pile of dead mice...I've also been having the same infuriating scrolling issues with two different brands of mice seemingly resisting and fighting scrolling -- one tic down scrolls five up time and again, resisting whichever direction, for a half dozen trys, until I get rough pressing violently hard. Half the time it also fails to plant the cursor as well. Mostly in Firefox browser. Dunno if it may be a browser issue, or it may be something to do with how W10 handles the drivers in Firefox, because it doesn't seem to occur on my W7 machines. It would be great if someone else could confirm this on their systems. I may get fed up enough to try opening edge to see if it's ms trying a new P/A tactic to force edge on us... I really miss those solid original MS Intelliamice with the good switches & tilt-wheel as well. ~jm

AMD Ryzen and heatOn both my asus boards, the default speeds/timing were really very slow, until I went to the memory manufacturer's to find proper timings, and changed these settings to match the claimed memory timings, and changed from default *power saving* profiles. Perhaps explore the bios to check/adjust CPU speed, Dram frequency and timing, and FCLK frequency, and power settings; and under bios' Monitor tab, to verify true temps? It does no harm to look around enough to get familiar with default settings to become comfortable in there. I cautiously explore each tab and change only one thing at a time, reading the page explanations under each setting as i go to figure things i am unsure about. cheers ~jm

AMD Ryzen and heat"Too cool really" I am struggling to comprehend this possibility . . . :-D Hope ye get it sorted, cheers! ~jm

AMD Ryzen and heatIn anticipation of heat issues, I chose bequiet dark rock pro 4 coolers for both my itx boards, and love them. Overkill, they keep mine at close to human body temperatures, even in socal summer heat. Huge and spendy, but quiet -- you can check their site to see if it'll fit your board and case headroom. One of them was nicely discounted, snagged from Amazon warehouse; presumably returned by someone that neglected to check headroom before purchasing. Stay cool my friends. ~jm
