Thanx for replying, The cancel button is not doing anything,it simply needs to close the popup and that too without going to server side. It could be done by setting,that button's id as cancelButtonId of modal popup.But since the button is not on the same page.It's rather inside the user control on that panel, I am not able to use this utility as well. Actually Input type file is the most problematic dom element I have ever seen. Just you cant open a file without the user to have selected through browse button. Even after choosing the file if you just append the control to another form using javascript, the file reference will be wacked up. I think what is the most viable thing to do, is to upload the file to the server when user chooses the file and then hold the context of the file in the server. Hey,thanx for your reply. Well,by default all the items(may be 5-100) will be selected. But,just wanted to allow the user to disselect any item,if he wants to. Otherwise there is no compulsion of having such design. Anyways,thanx for those suggestions .I'll try to get the desired output using them.

In the widget on master page(on click of link button),I am allowing the user to log in. whereas in my aspx page I am allowing user to register(these input fields are having validations). If the user is already registered then he can login through the widget which is on master page. But when I try to log in ,it is showing me validation errors,since the input fields for registration on the same page are left blank. I dont want it to check validation when I try to log in. Thanks.

Yeah,I had tried that earlier.But then it was giving a diferent effect to the viewer and since there are other link buttons too,so all of them should look alike.That is why,I had do it like this. But anyways,Thanks a lot for your immediate responces. :)
