Windows IIS Hosting - Upgrading Options From Shared Hosting With a UK Data Centre to Something With Better Performance -
Windows IIS Hosting - Upgrading Options From Shared Hosting With a UK Data Centre to Something With Better PerformanceHi,
I have been using Discount ASP.Net to host my site for the last 6 years+.
Really pleased with them, great support and works well and they have a UK data centre option.
I was looking at their Everleap service (built on MS Azure), which looks great as it isolates you from most of the brain ache of having a VPS or MS Azure.
But they don't have a UK data centre option for this service, big disappointment!
I am worried that if I use the west coast (I think) US based Everleap service my websites page load times will increase significantly.
So I have two questions....
1 Does anyone know of a similar service to Everleap that has a UK data centre option?
2 Are my concerns regarding increased page load times of a west coast US hosted site overblown?
I already use a CDN for all my static content.
Many thanks to everyone in advance,
Will

Reliable and affordable hosting companyDASP - The hosting is good, the support even better and the forum active. Its easy to quibble about a few dollars but when you add the wasted time with so so service and support its money well spent.

MS Access is NOT and Enterprise SolutionHave Access as the Front End and migrate the data to SQL Server (or SQL Server Express). Then give everyone individual Access front ends on their own PCs. The front end can be maintained / refreshed with new versions by using the brilliant auto fe updater. Used to be free but not now. I started out as an Access developer and although I see its limitations (chiefly the database part) I think its fantastic. At the end of the day its the right tool for the right job.

Best Media centre? Not sure if it’s the best but I have the following: Vista home premium Dell 531 bought from their scratch and dent eBay site (hidden in a cupboard) Connected to a Sony bravia 32" via hdmi from the computers DVI Modem router sits on top of pc Haupage freeview TV card Sound into TV but will get an amp and speakers sometime Connect to other pcs via wireless and Ethernet cable ms remote It generally works fine, mostly just use media centre part of vista. The advantage of a PC is that its going to be easier and cheaper to add Hdd to. The fact is you are going to record a lot of TV and films that you will never watch and won't want to delete. Now have all pics, music, TV, kids DVDs (ripped onto the PC - otherwise will get scratched) in one place. Thus can get rid of a lot of other tech paraphernalia e.g. DVD player, music centre, cds, DVDs Disadvantage is that I have to do a 2 min computer course every time we get a new babysitter! Will be upgrading to windows 7 and adding another 1.5 TB of space. Its just easier and more cost effective to go down the PC route. Will
