I would 100% be interested in this, I agree that it is a key topic and very very hard to keep fit while working a job where the only time you stand up is to get food!

CPU comparisonsI have just been looking at a new cpu the AMD Bulldozer range and the flagship cpu is a 8 core 3.8Ghz, yet in a comparison with an i7 2600k quad core the i7 performs better. Can someone please explain to me how this is possible to me reading that just does not make sense!

I give up!Thanks I appreciate the comments. It is, as you rightly point out, my first time experiencing this kind of thing. I am not used to someone saying one thing and then going in the opposite direction. It is hard to accept. You are right though and I appreciate your comments.

Does anyone know any pc component wholesalers?Afternoon all, I have started a small company building high end gaming PC's the website is under development and I am now starting to look for suppliers. I have found and applied to one that look relaible www.entaonline.com[^] but other than that I can't find any that supply the kind of stuff I am after. Has anyone had any experience with any wholesalers if so I would love to know. Thanks

I give up!I 100% agree with your comments and I appreciate your reply. The issue I have is that the company is not a IT company, they are a UK wide construction company. So in an ideal world like you did yourself I would be able to turn to another developer or project manager. But in this company they simply don't exist. They hired me basically to make them a piece of software that did this, this and this. The simple reason they asked me is because as a student I am far cheaper! Yes far less experienced but because it's not a development environment I didn't really need any experience as I am working on my own with the knowledge I have. Yes I have learnt while doing the project but that is through my own endeavour, the company as a whole simply couldn't care less. The main thing I have learnt is about integrating microsoft products such as excel with c#. I am just dissapointed that in my opinion I am not really improving as a developer because there is no one around me to basically say "This is not quite right, you would be better to do..." it is that knd of guidance that I thrive on. You only learn from making mistakes.

I give up!Your doing almost exactly like me in the day I do data input when I am supposed to be coding and at night I do coding when I am suppose to be sleeping!

I give up!The problem I am having, and I have been looking, is that most positions are either for the summer or for the year. Now I can't do a year now as it will land bang on the start of my 3rd year and if I wait till the summer that's another 8 months away! It's a bloody annoying situation! I'm sure you know what it's like I joined with high expectations then get shot in the foot after a month. I am 23 so a bit older than most uni students and I want to work and learn, I've had enough of drinking to much every weekend, I want to now make a career. It's just one of those mornings!!
-
I give up!lol if I was writing something other than a rant I assure you I know the different variations of "there". I am also at the lovely uni of D'oh Montfort. The course is probably easier than my A-Levels! That isn't a bad idea in terms of the next student looking after it. I will have to bring that up.

I give up!I think the only good thing about this job so far is codeproject isn't blocked! I understand that not all the code I write will be used but to get someone to write it and then say well we can't use it because an employee made it what the hell! Lol I made it for them at there request. I swear the worlds backwords at times. Well the excel I am doing is basically data input and is just painfully boring, I can't change formulas etc becauseeeee all there cells are locked and protected. I can't even center the text in a cell for god sake! I just don't know what to do stick it out typing in numbers for another 6-8 months or move on and try to find more relevant experience. I know I can put this on my cv but I want to learn and experience a proper development environment and this just isn't it!

I give up!I was hired by a company for my gap year at uni to help them develop a system to improve there reporting basically. A month in I have completed it but they won't use it because it is not "fully supported". Come on at what point did they think in house software written by a gap year student was going to be fully supported! I am now 4 months in, since I finished there system I have done nothing but type number into excel which is apparently "experience". I mean come on I am wasting a year sat in an office doing excel now instead of development! ARGHHHHH I am a BSc Computer Science student by the way predicted a first class degree and I am now stuck doing this crap!

Why I don't use Apple productsexactly! I don't understand it at all! Why would you want to spend 1/3 more or in the majority of cases even more than that for the same machine but in a white case and a different OS?! I just don't understand it! I know they are now a fashion icon and its "cool" to have a mac but in my opinion it's better to have better insides at a cheaper price than an apple logo on my machine!

is buying an SSD worth it?Thank you :) built it myself earlier in the year(May) remarkable the price difference! I got that setup plus a 24-inch full hd monitor for around £850, try and find that setup for less!! Thanks for that it may need investing in I will check out the OCZ, if your going to spend the money you got to do it right!

is buying an SSD worth it?Thanks for that. This is the question isn't it can i justify paying 120-130 for a few seconds off load time. I am currently running i7 2600k, 1tb hd ati 6950, 8gb ram - I was either considering adding an ssd drive or another 6950 and an extra 8gb of ram. I am really not sure which would be the best obv the ssd is cheaper than adding the extra graphics card but an extra graphics card would be nice! :)
