To add to outlook, you need to drive the object model. The difficulty will come if in an environment with Exchange SErver, which stores all this stuff centrally. If you're happy just to use the client's Outlook, then google for "Outlook Object Model"...there WILL be version issues as will all office object models however. In terms of pushing data from the client to the server, the usual way to do this is with a postback (or AJAX if a postback is not desirable). Just post the form to the server, and ypu'll have access to all the bits you need. (Though if you're feeling brave, you COULD do it all client side with some fairly heavy-duty Javascript!) Make sure that you run this code after the datasource is bound to the grid control. Also, you can keep using the ItemDataBound event handler, but you can detect the first row so that you only run your code with this row.

Hi Niki, You can still get the max date from the dataset generated from XML file. And regarding today or future dates, you can put check for them too. And regarding your second query, i am not sure when you want the values of the grid??? I mean where you want to use them? I haven't ever done this, I think you can take hidden variables and set them at the time of ItemDataBound of the grid, and then get the vaules of the hidden variables with getElementById. HI Niki, what I wrote in the last thread was to change backcolor of one row only. I got a new and easy Idea. DO one thing, on the page load event, get the max date from the database, then in ItemDataBound compare that date with all the rows, which ever matches, change the backcolor of that row. You can quickly see the DateTime members[^] providing you with a couple of ways to get the date value only. Also when binding the Date column to the table, you can specify the formatting pattern to get the date, you can read more about this in msdn[^].

First you should display all the six columns in the datagrid and hide the columns that you don't want to be visible using e.Item.Attributes.Add("display", "none") in datagrid_ItemCreated event. This will ensure that the specific columns will be present in the aspx page, but not visible to the user. You need them to be present in order to be able to show them without a postback. Then, add a control to the webpage where you will display the hidden columns when the user clicks on an item. When the user clicks on an item call a javascript function that will read the values from the specific hidden columns and display them in the control. Your code above for clicking on an item in the datagrid is not correct. Adding an attribute to the datagrid will result in calling the javascript function when the user clicks on the datagrid, and not an specific item in it. You need to add an attribute to each item in the datagrid.
