Unfortunately it didn't help with the showing of the Footer or Header when the grid's datasource property has 0 rows. Basically the insert/add new section of the grid is in the grid's Footer. When there are not rows to display for editing, I would still like the footer to display so that users can insert a new row. I haven't done any ASP.NET. However, what happens if you take the Runat="Server" attribute out? It seems to me that is the main difference between the two examples. Regards Andy

well you can use javascript to do it.. I have done it with datagrid and i belieev you can do the same way with gridview.. ondatabound add onclick attribute to the item (row) e.g. simplest... item.attributes.add("onclick","javascript:this.style.backgroundcolor=red;") a bit complex.. item.attributes.add("id",item.clientid) //above line is optional if you need to search by id on client item.attributes.add("onclick","javascript:selectRow(this);") or for double click item.attributes.add("ondblclick","javascript:selectRow(this);") and then in selectRow function do whateevr you want to dso on client.. -----

Hi Michael, There is another option that you might also want to try, I mean you can try the VS 2005 Web Project[^] which is an add-in for VS 2005 (it's still RC though). With this option, you may not change your code, and you can easily access the classes of the web page and user control as you would with VS 2003, :cool:!

Unfortunately that can be done. You can however do this: split the list up between serveral hidden fields. Once the page is loaded. Use javascript to slowly build the list. Thats your only option without a major change to the design 1 line of code equals many bugs. So don't write any!!

Hi there, It seems to me that it's a known issue, AFAIK there are some ways which you may consider: + You can populate the absolute virtual path of the stylesheet file, then assign it to the href property of the link element. + Embed the style classes in the web page with the style tag.
