It's not out yet... my family's Windows 7 machine got that popup earlier. It looks like it's just a way for you to reserve a free upgrade to Windows 10, so that when it's released, it will auto-download to your PC. So... I mean, if you want it when it comes out, go for it.

Apple TV / Roku - like software for PC?dandy72 wrote:
But is there one available at all?
There are at least two, but I couldn't get at least one of them to work. I may not have even tried the other one.

thought XBMC had tons of plugins...surely there's something that'll let you do that?
Perhaps. I haven't looked into it myself. I figured that it probably didn't exist. I'll follow up if I find anything.

Do follow up if you find something worthwhile...
Will do, provided I remember. If I did write software for it, and made it open-source, would anyone here be willing to help?

Apple TV / Roku - like software for PC?It seems to be a small pain getting a plugin for Netflix in there for now. Besides that, the interface feels a bit clunky, and I want to be able to create playlists with media from multiple sources.

Apple TV / Roku - like software for PC?Thanks for the suggestion. If I ever do get around to it, I want to make it open-source, and attempt to provide weekly updates until I deem it "finished"... or until the community takes over. Whatever comes first.

Apple TV / Roku - like software for PC?I've been wanting a PC app that displays and allows me to play media from several sources (like Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, local files, etc.). I haven't been able to find anything that fits what I want. I tried XBMC (now Kodi), and it doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. Do you have any suggestions? Or should I just buy an Apple TV? Or heck, write my own software? (I've had the urge to do that recently, too, so I'm willing to give it a go.)

How many points to be a Bronze Debator? That was really unexpected... thanks!

Sometimes, People code what you say... just what you sayDude... that would never happen.

Worst practise - asking a question without searching...I'm guilty of doing this, admittedly. Or, I'll do a search and can't find it, post the question, and a few hours, search again. It would be that on the second search I find what I'm looking for... :| Live and learn, I guess.

Unnecessary Commented CodeAhh... admittedly, I've been guilty of leaving commented code behind, but they were left behind to work with later. However, I don't think I ever commented copied code like that...

How many points to be a Bronze Debator?*Facepalm* I shoulda looked further down the page. Sorry. Thanks!

Wonderful loggerThat's painful. Reminds me of when I first learned exception handling... I programmed a message box for most, if not all, exceptions... Don't worry. I've learned. :-D

How many points to be a Bronze Debator?Just asking... I've only got 20 points at the time of this writing. When you read this, probably 21.

One of the better code comments I've come across...Scary... just a reminder to comment my code well :-D

A real source file shredder? It's kind of ironic that you'd bring this up... I was wondering a little bit about file shredding recently. So, from what I'm gathering on this thread, and from other places I've seen online, all that I'd really have to do to shred a file is overwrite it several times, or is there more to it?

Are you a free junkie?Haha, no it's nothing like that.

Are you a free junkie?A little bit of effort is okay to me, as long as it's not out-of-pocket.

Are you a free junkie?Well, I'm known for finding free and legal music downloads. Stuff like that I guess.
