yes, it does make an improvement. I already disabled the page file on my 2gb vista machine, and it works flawlessly, with the exception when I work with large videos in windows movie maker.

It seems to me that it is anti-virus related. Any upgrade that i did when i forgot to turn the av off went to hell. No problems on the boxes that had the av turned off at the time of the upgrade
