Hi I have a field which has a carriage return in it. because of this it wont search this field properly and will not display any matching results. How do you deal with carriage return fields so that I can query them? thanks

Using SQL Search in c# page - problem with fields with ' ' in themIve replaced the apostrophies and it doesnt show an error message but now it just wont find that field which is weird. The sql statement is searching a table for fields that match the description the user puts in. Is this because the apostrophies are not recognised in the field? thanks OK forget what I said above. I think the problem is that there are breaks in the text in the database field, i.e. a new line so this might be causing the error of not finding it. Is this a known problem when searching database fields that if there is a line break in the field it affects finding data? thanks

Using SQL Search in c# page - problem with fields with ' ' in themHi I am using inline sql to search a table column. Some of the fields in the column have ' ' in them and whenever these fields are chosen it shows an error 'In correct Syntax near the text that is in the ' '. Is this a problem because it affects the sql syntax in the statement? My code goes something like 'select from table where field is LIKE '%" + name + "%'" Any help would be great. thanks Jamie

C# paper-based assessment feedbackTypical. They should be looking at what you can do rather then just judging on the amount of experience you have. You could have 5 years experience and still be not as good as say someone who had 2-3 years experience.

C# paper-based assessment feedbackI had to do a maths test for a programming interview once. It was so stupid. I had to identify patterns in drawings for example if a square has a triangle in one corner and the next picture is slightly different etc. The guy said it doesnt prove that Im not a programmer if I dont pass it just proves if you are suitable for our job. Why cant they keep it simple and just ask us to write a few lines of code!!

Don dismiss it so easily, I use VWD Express it is good. The Express editions are useful and are well worth a visit.

How to hide label ?So you want to only show the error message when the login is not in the database. If they dont enter anything and click a button you want a required field validator to fire, is that correct? Just add a required field validator to the control and that will check if the field contains a value.

Is it just me or have the Prev and First page tags gone from the page?Maybe the First and Prev buttons have been layed off what with it being hard times because of the current financial situation. I hope they got a good redundancy package.

An interesting career so far...Phannon wrote:
So going from having never programmed before in my life, then after completing a 3 year uni course in computer science, getting my 2:1 in what may as well have been a Java degree (it was heavily based on Java, but there were other aspects to it)
Sounds like my uni degree. They concentrated on java for the first 2 years, went on my placement and learnt c# came back did java, got my 2:1 and then started job doing c# again. Never done Delphi though.
