You're kidding right! Emacs has a steep learning curve and most users can't handle it. I come from Bell Labs Unix where I used both emacs and vi a lot. Windows in my opinion and experience lacks the power of the command line that is available in nix, however powershell comes close but relies too much on .net.

Older developers - have you noticed a change in your sleep habits?I'm 74 now and still at it, I work because that is what drives me. When I was young I'd stay up until 2 AM and then get up at 6 AM for my job. Now that I am 74 I say up until 8 or 9 PM and sleep until 2 or 3 AM and then I am up and working on some problem I have been churning over in my sleep.

I'm looking to hire a "junior" programmer.Sad to say but whenever I hear the words "Junior Programmer" my mind immediately goes to "Looking for someone cheap but experienced". I don't think that applies in your case. If you really want someone that can learn your code and take over for you I'd say hire an experienced programmer and pay the market price. An experienced programmer will learn what ever language is needed in a short period of time and learn your code base as well.
