Looks like MS haven't actually released a major version of a Windows platform product since February! Office 2003 and Exchange 2003 are released this month, so I would expect a new version of at least the Exchange SDK fairly soon.

Actually, if I remember correctly, they survey programmers that visit their site and ask them what they make. A lot like those old fishing stories where the fish was this.. big... I think it is more what they think they should be paid and not real life. I am sure there are many that answer correctly but those that do not really throw the numbers off. Rocky Moore <><

Thanks. Actually, it's a C dll, so the names aren't mangled. I wish the function names were mangled, then I could find out the parameters using the latest version of Depends.exe. Unfortunently, I think Anders is correct, I have to guess or get knee deep into the disassembled ASM. Thanks for your help.;)

This is a problem I'm having that is along similar lines to Gerald, I'm trying to use events that are implemented in a com server I created, using JavaScript. I have already implemented a Visual Basic application that works fine with it, and handles the events from the server, so I am confident that the server works fine. I have also implemented HTML and JavaScript that connects to the sever throught the tags, and it can call functions, and use properties from it, but I can't get it to handle the events from it using tags. Does anyone know if there is there anything specific I have to implement in the Server, or the JavaScript to make this work? Cheers, Dave.</x-turndown>

AFAIK that can't be done in C#. The 'foo' object never was a 'bar' object and can't be cast in that direction. A new 'bar' reference CAN be cast into a foo reference and then back into a 'bar' reference though. You cannot cast this way in a strongly typed language. You may be able to do this in C++ (with reinterpret_cast) but the virtual tables will be messed up and strange bugs WILL happen. -- Peter Stephens
