Thanks for the FileVersionInfo Tip. I think that will do the trick. It also returns the coments and other info I'm looking for. Right click on any file->proporties->summery and this class gives you access to all that. That was what i'm looking for. Thanks for the Reg Keys. I'll look into that solution. This is not an error handling problem. This is a windows problem with not Fully utilizing UNC. There is no way to convert the parts of a UNC name into a local path. A properly normalized db will have separate columns for device, share, and path (UNC: \\DeviceName\ShareName\Path) so its not as simply as If UNCpath exists Else just use local. That would require restructuring the Db. And as you probably know that’s not always an option. Ok so I was having a bad day with MS.. I could find the exe in the bin (on a network share) but when i would run it there was nothing said about security, only that the application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Well that’s great. In 2003 you would get a warning and have the ability to allow or disallow. At least that way you hade a change to know what was going on. I’ll worry about security when I’m working on an app that might be reassessed someday. OK so I should load the Dataset in the Sessioin_Start. That makes sense. I’m still unclear how to get the information out of the DataSet once I’m in my DayRender event. Also How can I reload the DataSet, when needed, with fresh data from the Db. Does any one know of a place where I can look at some code. Agreed. I dont trust SQL2k to generate the PK as an identity. I have seen in some situations when the Server crashes enormous identity gaps are created. The only solution in this case is to BCP out the data, drop and recreate the table abd then BCP in. It has happened twice with me. So I dont use identity columns anymore.
