Everyone has their opinion, and I value that in life. I think it sucks too, so voting it down is actually appropriate. Wondering what to do with four monitors... I bet some of you could help with suggestions... LOL Laugh and give hugs to those you love, that is what he would want. He was always happy to be a part of your highly knowledgeable group of people. Hello, I am sending out this message to people who have had contact with Ray Cassick over the years. This is Joanne his wife. This is just a newsletter to let you know why he has not responded. He wanted me to send something out to all of his contacts. I am not sure if you know this, but Raymond has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. The technical name for his cancer is Glioblastoma Multiforme. Raymond was diagnosed in November 2009, and went for more than a year without debilitating symptoms. The chemo and radiation managed to keep the tumor from progressing. In late March 2011, the tumor began to progress. He is left unable to write e-mails and talk well. He is home on permanent disability, and we expect that we will need hospice in the upcoming months. We are working with the doctors to try to slow it down, but the outcome is not positive. A little about him. He was diagnosed in November 2009. At the time he was completing his Master's degree. He had a week break from school, underwent a brain biopsy, then completed his degree in December of 2009. Not one missed class day! The push for his Master's degree was that he wanted to teach in a college setting. The teaching bug struck over the years when he did corporate technical training. He then taught the summer of 2010 at Bryant & Stratton. Teaching was such a wonderful gift for him to pass knowledge to his students. In the interim while undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, he continued to work full time. He worked tirelessly at his work, as well as being very supportive at home. He really did sleep little, and worked hard. He also loved working as a software architect, because it fit into his project management skills. He has made arrangements to donate his body to the University at Buffalo so that medical student can continue to learn from him. His only request of people is that they continue to learn, no matter what their age. He has taken care of his family so well, that we do not need anything. Although he is still alive, he is not what he used be. He is constantly tired, and has trouble communicating. He often tries to log into his computer and read e-mail, but usually asks for someone to read it to him. He also answers the phone, but then has to hand it to someone else, or tell the caller to call me. His only concern is that he is doing enough for those that he knew, and help others any way he can. You will be great. I liked this school because the students were there for a reason. Your first class is a level 200 class. The freshman have already been thinned out, and the remainder are getting close to the end of their program. I took the class that you are going to teach over three years ago, and the lab classes were better than lecture classes. Plus you will not have General Education students, the class will only have IT students. So you will have a more focused audience. Have fun with it. There have been a lot of great suggestions here. Let's hope on thing, you do not get a student just like you!!! The same person who loved to play 'Stump the teacher' whenever in any class. :rose:

I think my company's data, especially the girls collection of recipes is more important to backup. Perhaps we can get in on the archive program. Would save my company a lot of money, and make me a hero!

UPDATE: We just got back form the doctor. It is a tumor. He has a scheduled PET scan, and then we go to see the neurosurgeon at Roswell Park. The doctor will have to perform a biopsy to find out exactly what the tumor is. Joanne M. Cassick

What does your book say? Hint: Can you just grab and compare the left character. How stuck are you? Best bet would be to show where you are stuck, But do the work as much as you can first. Are you having issues with just one line? Do you just not know how to compare the character? Never wait until the last minute. The chances are too great that you are going to crash. Best to be prepared. By no way am I a programmer, just a lowly novice, but you best learn from doing your work. That is how I passed all of my programming classes. Perseverance and never waiting until the last minute.

Unfortunately no one can answer your question except you. What do you want? Where do you see yourself? What is your ultimate goal? What are your immediate responsibilities? Have you researched what is needed? Start with small steps, you will get where you are going. Do you love to learn? Do you eventually want to teach? If you have the chance to do what you want - Go for it! Otherwise you might be a 40 year old, soon to be an upper level executive, wanting to be a rocket scientist, trying to figure out how accomplish your dream before time runs out to do something special with your life. It is easier to convince people around you that your dreams are valid when you are younger. As you get older the expectations change, and your find yourself living up to others expectations, instead of your own. Run to your dream, and don't let anything stop you. Plan your path, even if you take a detour, and you will have an interesting journey.
