In case it might be useful to you. I have ubuntu Linux running on my Win 10 laptop (WSL) and it has this handy program called comm. I use it when I need to do a task like you describe. HTH Usage: comm [OPTION]... FILE1 FILE2 Compare sorted files FILE1 and FILE2 line by line. When FILE1 or FILE2 (not both) is -, read standard input. With no options, produce three-column output. Column one contains lines unique to FILE1, column two contains lines unique to FILE2, and column three contains lines common to both files.

I bet you've never said "I won't learn it" about any technology required for any task that's been shoved your way. So let's not hear anything about getting old ...etc. And for that matter - not everything is something that even should be kept up with, rather fashionable chaff blown away by the wind generated by the next perceived cash-in opportunity. Yeah, I like it. I'm an old timer - lots of bash. Once I finally got used to the idea that powershell wasn't bash I started to like it. (I made some hilarious mistakes on the way) Now sometimes in bash I find myself wishing for objects.
