So here I am...As a Windows developer of 10 years, I completely disagree, Ubuntu is amazing!! Sure it has problems, nothing is perfect. But installing a driver? changing display settings? you need to do the same thing on windows too! What about the fact that Ubuntu is faster than vista and xp? do you hate that?

Plesk opinionsI recently used plesk & virtuozzo on www.vpsland.com. Its good stuff. Very easy to do common tasks. Of course it still helps to know whats under the covers.

The real shame is that on my first day on the job some guy (from development department) tought me about their key product. I started asking questions about the algorythm and he exmplained how it worked (even though it's not in my job description). Anyway, I asked why it was desgined this way and suggested a better way. He pondered for a minute and finally admitted my way was better.
Its a bad idea to do something like this early on (especially on the first day). Other people will assume you are a critic, even though you are right. Once your coworkers get to know you a bit (1 year or so) they will be more inclined to trust your opinion. 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

WPF/EHavent read too much about it. Sounds cool. But it would be nice if it was a real cross platform W3C standard. Otherwise there will be limited acceptance. Do it probably wont replace Flash but may completly replace Windows Forms in 2-3 years. I really hope the W3C comes out with something similar to XAML/WPF. Then the fun would really begin!! 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

Anyone tried Microsoft Expression?Nish, i know you know alot about managed C++, so tell me where can I get a good overview on the new managed c++ features in .NET 2.0? 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

Anyone tried Microsoft Expression?Makes sense to me.. all these tools are based on WPF so theres no need to deliver them before. I just wish MS would decouple their systems, and eliviate these interlocked dependancies. e.g. EID cant be released until winfx, vista cant be released until winfx, office 12 cant be released until vista. etc.. 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

Only issue is EID is rather heavy
I beleive the download was under 10MB, though you are right - it requires a lot of memory.

and I am not sure how expensive it will be when it's released
If MS is smart (and they are) they will price it low (def. not more than flash costs) 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

Source Control for MS SQL ServerIs MSSQL 2005 you can also save any changes made with the SQL Management Studio GUI to a .sql file. Makes it easy to keep track of changes and still use the GUI tools. 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

Anyone tried Microsoft Expression?EID is awesome. Its a bit more complicated than Macromedia Flash, you need to understand WinFX. Its essentially Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator and a bit of Visual Studio wrapped into one. And yes you can create language independant Xaml files. It can do eveything cider can do and much much more complex stuff like Animation,Templates,3D etc.. You can also open you VS project in the designer. make some changes and open it again in VS. It works with the msbuild system. 60% of statistics are made up on the spot -- modified at 8:19 Saturday 25th March, 2006

1GB I-RAMhey thats not bad. esp. compared to linux. takes forever.. Now I wonder if vista is any faster.. i would imagine not. (Thats one thing about linux - when a new version comes out the system requirements dont go up much. I like that.) 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

piI always think of it like this: The area of a circle was calculated in ancient times by fitting smaller squares within the circle. The more squares you add the closer you approach the correct area. Since you can always add more squares, you can always get a more finite answer. but never one that is definate.. cause you can always add more smaller squares which would give more decimal places to the end of pi. hope that makes some sense ;) 60% of statistics are made up on the spot
