Going OT: Adblock Plus blocks those youtube ads (and pretty much everything else), but it's only for chrome and firefox. Looked a few times for an IE equivalent, but gave up on that after a few days.

The joys of HTML5 validationGenerating HTML is still a lot easier than parsing it. :) In theory, a proper HTML5 and/or javascript generator could help us break free of the current web standards, without sacrificing browser or platform compatibility. I've thought about building something like that a few times, and I've got a few ideas how to go about it, but nothing concrete yet. If I find the time I'll make a public workspace for it, and throw my hat in the ring.

O...Kay...7 out of 10 people in my head agree that sanity is vastly overrated. (2 feel pretty neutral about it, and 1 is constantly trying to claw at things, so who the hell knows what he thinks) But in all seriousness, I have great respect for people who manage to get things done and function in society, while being in some sort of "insane" state. Being able to overcome mental problems is a skill I place in high regard.

Flight 370 - The depth of the problemI'm actually a bit scared about the mass interest in this plane. It feels like society is slipping into some sort of self feeding hype cycle. What about all the news that's not interesting? Poverty and inequality are serious problems, but no one likes to feel bad about it, so it gets ignored in favor of, for example, this one plane. I'm also pretty sure people still get killed and go missing or something. I don't know, man. Feels wrong. And I probably need my coffee.

Different cultureIsn't this just meme culture bleeding into programming culture? I occasionally add similar redundant / moronic slang to mails when I consider a problem both low priority and out of band with my regular work. Only when addressing friends / peers mind you, never in official work correspondence. (Except once, when someone sent me an email entitled "BUSINESS". In reply, it might have ended up as "SERIOUS BUSINESS".)
