The Hardest Part -
Link From EmailI recently clicked on a link from a email notification for a VB.Net question and when the page showed up there appeared to be no other answers on the page. I posted an answer and a few days later found it had been down voted. What I didn't realize upon the second visit was the other answers were dated before mine. I finally found out the down vote was because the answer was previously mentioned and not accepted by the person that asked the question. I'm not sure if it was because of the email link or because I'm a beta tester that no other answers or comments showed up.

Asc(string character) returns wrong value chinese win10 machineWell there are 2 Down votes now but at least I know why now and that's all I was asking. And I will report the bug. Thank you for your time.

Asc(string character) returns wrong value chinese win10 machineYeah but when I posted originally there were no other comments or questions showing up at the time. That's the reason I said that. Otherwise I would not have posted anything. I went thru the link from the email notification of the question so not sure if that was the reason or not that nothing else showed up. Either way I give up trying to "Help People" because of so many "Trolls" here.

Asc(string character) returns wrong value chinese win10 machineJust curious why my answer got down voted when it was the first one and contained the information most other answers ?? -16 points not that I really care about points after all of these years here. Just Curious Why.

Asc(string character) returns wrong value chinese win10 machineTry using ASCW in stead of just plain ASC. ASC would be more for standard ASCII chars. Asc, AscW Functions[^]

Drinking coffee could lead to a longer life, scientist saysI just skimmed it but they probably totally ignored that coffee drinkers usually have a routine. I also didn't notice anything about 1-2 pots a day ;)

We need more adblock...The problem of "Malvertising" is also on the rise too, Legit sites serving up malware thru Ads. Also some sites have so may flashy, blinky, Video, PopUp, PopUnder, Hidden Iframe. Etc that you can not even view the "Content" you went there for to start with. And they wonder "Why" people use Ad Blockers.

Data recovery experience? (failed hdd)If it is a holiday weekend, if you can find someone, it will defiantly take lots of money.
-
Data recovery experience? (failed hdd)The equipment to do various types of recovery is a little over that amount, plus the training to know how to use it.
-
Data recovery experience? (failed hdd)It is also possible that the harddrive controller went bad or glitched. I recently had a WD drive fail but happened to buy 2 at the same time with the same Board and firmware installed. it was just a simple matter of swapping the board. Clicking is not always the heads, it may just not be able to find the data on disk because of the firmware.

Study suggests people less likely to fact check news when in company of other peopleThat's a little hard to do when so many just lift the same story from others and pass it down the line and don't double check before publishing.
