I'm not in Alberta... I'm in Monterrey, NL, México. But I gotta agree with you, I lived here from 2002-2005, and every winter those years was very cold and raining alot, even 2 or 3 consecutive days with non-stop rain; this "winter" during the morning its fresh, afternoon its hot (not too hot though) and chilly at most during the night, and very little rain. I saw the phenomenon in Mexicali, BC, México too. Maybe there's something (bad) happening world wide that we're not being told, maybe that 2012 thing is true.

That's why I'm planning on starting my own software shop where devs are the most important asset (a la Spolsky), I'm sick & tired of working 100 hour-weeks 3 months straight, and getting paid no overtime, not even a pat on the back. Fuck that.

In the last two jobs I've worked at (in Mexico), developers pretty much were given a task, an arbitrary deadline and arbitrary requirements changes (with no reasonable rationale behind either), and then left alone until release and testing.
