Hi ya, I have made them relative, but when the trailing / is on the end it thinks it's in a directory above where it is, and so the links fail. I even tried making the links server-side so that I can use href="~/Styles/StyleSheet.css" but the website thinks it is at root level, because that's where the 404 page is. When I view the source code for the page, the links appear as www.mysite.co.uk/afakedir/Styles/stylesheet.css it turns out it's not just the css and js files, but all other links have the fake directory appended to the beginning of it. (I hope that made sense...) It's left me very confused, I thought it was going to be very simple. Thanks for the advice :) Mark

Then you need to user Properties to Access Control from Page. And Events (You can pass any value as Event Argument, it can be a class) define in UserControl to communicate with the page. Check if your application variable getting lost coincides with IIS worker process recycling. IIS Worker process gets recycled based on various conditions like number of inputs serviced, time to live, etc and is configurable. But, it has to be recycles no matter what. If this is the case then, it explains why you do not face this on your test server, since the no of hits on your test server is nowhere near what you get on the Live server. The solution for your problem would be to use a sliding expiration scheme to auto expire/refresh the data on a time bound/unavailability basis. Alternatively, you can also modify the get property of the application variable to check if the data is available and fetch it from the server if it is not available. Doing this would ensure that your application does not fail and there is no need for manual intervention. HTH! Have a Great Year ahead!

Yes it was in the page load and even though I tried it on other events, I somehow never remembered to remove the onload version of the event, coupled with it not being in a (!Page.IsPostBack) block. Well... It's my boss who isn't letting me put linebreaks etc in the db, so I don't have any leeway there... I did have a good try at string.replace() but got a bit confused with first instances of etc. and so thought maybe a regex may be a bit cleaner. I have litterally just come up with a simple solution, though it isn't ideal, it does work. I have another department designing the emails for me and I can't get them to build it from the ground up, I'm just at a bit of a loss now.. Also, don't know if it helps, some (not all) of the images are links, as with most html emails, these seem to be the ones mis-behaving for me. I used it to get familiar with LINQ , and now database coding takes me half the time it would normally take, the linq syntax will just take a while to get used to but after a day of using linq you'll understand what a joy it is to code.
