Also, the Help says check your settings to see if you are subscribed to newsletters, but newsletters are not mentioned there. Also it says ask in Bugs & Suggestions, but I had to do a lot of trial and error to get here. Someone needs to make this site more novice-friendly.

What Happened to the News? -
Because of bad mouse buttons, this guy built his own mouseI wondered if he had speeded his voice up like some of the video, so I played it at 75% speed. It didn't sound normal so I don't think he had speeded it up, but at least it was now slow enough for my brain to keep up.

Newsletter subtitlesI'm just some gash 80-year old retiree without very much programming experience, but I too love your funnies - I don't know how you do it.

EdgeI'm astounded that 'Sun Maid' was to make me think sun-made - it certainly didn't. Also, the Amazon arrow conjures up juvenile graffiti more than anything else.

Insiders notification not received.Thanks. I am having a problem with my Yahoo mail, as it puts all Freegle messages into spam whatever filters I add. I've given up trying to redirect them so I check my spam folder every day, and yes sometimes the Insider appears there. Freecycle posts are fine and go into their OFFERED and WANTED folders OK. However, today 17 April, Insiders is neither in my inbox nor in spam. When I get the next Insiders I will add a filter to put it into a folder of its own, but I doubt if it will stop it going to spam like all the Freegle posts.

Following on from yesterday's little puzzler.Maybe - if you change "non-positive value" in your last sentence to "non-negative value".

A gentle puzzle I was just asked. That is no help whatsoever for your mathematical usage here.

So I repaired an old laptopWhy can't you just securely erase all your private stuff on the drives, leaving a working operating system? Who on earth would want an old laptop without a drive?

Wordle starter wordsAsking everybody else for starter words might also be called hardly playing the game.
-
Wordle starter wordsI also recommend Worgle, which has 6 letters, but is no more difficult.
-
Wordle starter wordsMy method was to download the Wordle word list - it starts with all the answers in order of appearance followed by all other 5-letter words. Then use a spreadsheet to find the letter frequency in each answer position. Then choose a word that uses the most frequent letter for each position, but avoiding words with repeated letters.

"Forced win11" - It's happening.Windows 8.1 is the last version that does not have enforced updates. I will not go to any more Windows versions, and will have to use only Linux when Windows 8.1 beomes unusable.

learn dot microsoft... is it just me?I've looked through my list of usenet groups, but I could find only these two that have posts and might be of slight interest (the numbers are the number of posts on eternal-september). alt.comp.microsoft.windows 939 alt.windows7.general 5568 I didn't see any MS development groups. -- Dave W

Well, that was quick - I'm all jabbed up.I've never had a jab of any kind my whole life (78 years) because my mother didn't believe in it. Mind you, when I was young there was a slight risk from jabs themselves. Luckily I never got Flu or Covid, only measles and chicken-pox.

Back to the Future - MS EditionI refuse to use any Word later than 2003, the last one before the button bar appeared. As well as taking up screen area, the bar was more difficult to use than menus because you have to scan the whole bar looking for a function.

Opinions on Dialog Design?I am but a humble user. Yesterday I filled in a satisfaction survey for Argos, which claimed to be quite short. Some of the boxes I checked produced further lists of checkboxes. I started to lose patience, and eventually by experiment chose options which did not produce further checkboxes, in order to finish the thing. Some of the extra checkboxes included questions which had already been asked anyway.
