I checked it too. I'm afraid it most definitely says analysis. It may be time to renew the prescription of your glasses?

  • (Depressing) thought of the day
    M Member 12000837

If I die now, my family will get our house for free (mortgage written off), and the Mrs. will be able to afford decent education for the kids with the insurance money. If I don't, I'll have to slave away for a f***ing couple more decades. Can some compassionate soul shoot me already? What a stupid society we live in. Thank god for whiskey (which is also a depressant BTW. How ironic). And if you object to my mentioning god in the lounge, you can take your religious views and shove it up yours.

ROTFL! That is probably the funniest Peanuts I've ever seen. Coming to think of it, that's the only funny Peanuts I've seen.

  • Isn't the C/C++ macro considered to be poor style? It's being used at coder contests!
    M Member 12000837

I always thought macros were the function-like things, the rest being preprocessor definitions. Apparently everything substituted by the preprocessor is called a macro. https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/cpp/Macros.html[^] I personally dislike function-like macros, except for the really simple ones like min and max. They are a real horror to debug.

This is the one from the Insider isn't it? I like the idea too, but I don't see how they can continue to operate for free. Are they going to depend on donations for funding?

Yes, that may be useful, but would only be good if you are actively searching for an old topic. It won't help reopen old discussions.

  • Resume advice - Part II
    M Member 12000837

Thanks for all the replies to my previous post[^], much appreciated! After more online research, I see that the main problem is what everyone pointed out - being too verbose. I had the impression that recruiters and HR use some kind of software (applicant tracking system) to weed out what they wanted based on keywords in the text, and the actual length was not that relevant (within reason). That led me to include a little of everything I've done to get past the filters. I think I'm going to use a professional service. There are a *lot* of them out there, and selecting one is going to be hard. Luckily there also is advice on how to select one. For instance, they have to be familiar with the latest formats and selection methods & criteria. There is also an association of professional resume writers which looks like a good place to start (no links, it appears at the top of a Google search). OT - wouldn't it be nice if old posts could be made to "bubble up" in the forum when new replies are posted? The current method is also fine, but occasional posters would benefit more if new posts were immediately visible. Or was that already discussed ages ago?

  • Professional Resumé Writers
    M Member 12000837

Are they worth the money, or is it just a scam? Does anyone here have any experience with them? Their sites obviously tout their own effectiveness, but I'm rather sceptical about them. I've been job hunting for some time and I'm starting to get desperate enough to try anything short of actually padding my resumé (which some people say I have to do, because everyone else does it and being truthful puts me at a disadvantage). I have enough experience to fill five pages (keeping it as short as possible), but I'm probably doing something wrong because I get so few interviews. Do they want to see an online profile like LinkedIn? Articles on CP? Contributions to open source? A thousand "friends" on Facebook? Daily tweets of nonsensical crap? Every site I Google offers various opinions and it gets confusing after a while.
