Congrats. I'm retiring this year too. I've built a lot of the software my company uses internally, but the most meaningful project was building my first acoustic guitar, for me. More will be built in retirement. Best wishes on your next adventure.

FLIRSaw someone hunt them by stomping down the hills then come back hour later to see where they pop-up. Place a rock at each end of the new tunnel, come back again to get the direction. Mole is at one end or the other. Grab a pitchfork and skewer them right out of the ground. I was amazed when the neighbor did this a few times.

Elon goes to warBetter get used to it. 80+% of politicians and business leaders are a**holes. Musk just gets more press than most.

tyops? It seems like my hands want to go back and forth as I peck. Words that alternate letters and then don't are at risk.

It’s really hard to say what my wife does for a living.I heard that the sixth sick sultan's sixth sheep's sick. Maybe he needs six sea shells for the sixth sick sheep? :~

Anyone know any motivational techniques? For me, it's self psychology. Convincing myself I'll feel better when it's done helps get me started. It's always ends up to be so. The release of subconscious guilt, possibly. Gotta talk yourself into it is the bottom line.

Mindless Musing - what do you call "flip flops"?Uncomfortable. Don't like things between my toes. Flip-flops here in Michigan, BTW.

App, or Pocket calculator? If I need a quick calc, I pick up the TI-85 that sits under my monitor. If things get more needy, I use Excel. Calculator apps only get used as a last resort. I like the old calculator, it feels nostalgic.

Blues rulesFor sure. In fact there should be a "I got the Facebook blues" song. Mostly satirical, I think.

Sometimes this helpsQuote:
Can't get my wife to believe this
Same here. Most don't get it. Worth it to "preach the gospel" though. The "aha" moment can be liberating.

This modern worldIt's easy to take for granted those uneventful, average kind of days. It's hard to guess what the next WTF event will be on a personal or global level. On one hand history repeats itself, on the other, things can change rapidly. No, not boring.

What's the worst computer chassis hack you've done?Quote:
In terms of performance, it outran many full sized desktops.
It's not the size of the box, it's how you use it.

Accidentally Discovering ShortcutsMany moons ago I was working at the command prompt. My keyboard fell into a drawer and the edge of the desk hit F7. What appeared was a selectable list of my prior commands. That ended up being pretty handy. One day, while motor touring in France, we took a wrong turn. It cut a few km off the route to our destination and we got to see some interesting neighborhoods.

Who cares? In my younger years I was curious and amazed by such things. I think my curiosity of the abstract and strange is satiated now. As I near retirement age I find my curiosity shifting to the more down to earth matters. How can I grow better vegetables, build things with wood, help others get through their difficult lives? It comes down to how we want to fritter away the moments that make up a dull day. Different strokes for different folks. We can only care about so much.

Domain Name RegistrarI use Sectorlink and never had a problem. Not sure how easy it is to get a human on the phone though.

The Zoom firing fun'n'games continues...A lot of CEOs are high functioning psychopaths. Sounds like he's one.
