I have an Acer Iconia Tab. I would hesitate to call it a 'PC'. But I didnt buy it to be a serious alternative to my desktop or normal laptop for work or gaming. I bought it so that i could surf the net, write notes, or watch videos anywhere i like: lounging on the couch, lieing in bed, or even when on the loo, if i so choose. And for such things it is great. Even a nornmal laptop doesnt give you that portability. You tend to need to sit up straight, with your laptop on a stable surface. Using a laptop in bed for example, while possible, is not so comfortable, but with a tablet, you can lie on your back or side, and hold the tablet as you wish, or lean it on a pillow. No problem. I also find a tablet more practical when flying. In cattle class things are so cramped you can barely open your laptop, and you end up sitting in an awkward position looking at a partially opened laptop, with the screen angled towards your belly button. With my tablet it is much easier and more comfortable. So .. there are several advantages to the tablet option.

Android Tablet PC: What do you use it for? -
Don't mess with Steve's desk!I'm no Steve, but i have been pranked. I left my desk once, and back then i didnt bother about locking my computer when away from my desk, and so im my absence some colleagues took a screen shot, hid my desktop icons, and made that screen shot the background image. I got back to my desk, and got a little frustrated that suddenly all my desktop icons didnt work. After they owned up to it i just laughed. I thought it was a great prank! And now i always lock my PC when i leave my desk ...

Today's English question - "handible"But, mister Solo this certificate is under the name Han Dible... It's an old certificate, and I changed my name a few years back. You would too if you had a name like Dible. I'm sorry Sir i can't release the droids without a valid current ownership certificate. Look, You know me, i'm the guy who did the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs. But Sir, I thought a parsec was a unit of distance, not time.. *ZAP* ... followed by a thud and the smell of burnt flesh. Boring conversation anyway...

Dayta or Darta? What? I thought Dayta was just another Americanism. I say Darta, and DartaBayse, and Darta Myning, and Darta Module. What surprises me is that a Ozzie guy said Darta correctly. Ozzies more often sound like Americans. (I'm a Kiwi, by the way)

Advice on how to help an 11 year old start programming...I was programming in Basic on the Vic20 when i was 11, and got into it without any coaching from grown-ups. However i think it will take more than just a push in the right direction for most youngsters. I would download a free version of Delphi, and work with the child building a simple app that bounces a ball around the form or something, explaining the basic concepts involved. Then let them explore, answering questions as they come up.

How much coffee or tea do you drink per day?I was drinking 4 or 5 big mugs of coffee a day. As part of a new regime (diet), and a general desire to be healthier, i have stopped drinking coffee. I could hardly think the first two days after i stopped.

How wide is your code?I can't stand code that avoids CR's. Code should above all be easy to read and follow by others. Nicely spaced, indented and printable, with not too much on each line.

So where is the new Borland?I program in C#, Java, and Delphi, and I still think Delphi is the best of all of them, (though Java is close second).

Are you a slave to technology?I've got a tap (faucet for you Americans) that has been slowly falling apart for weeks, needs repair, and someday i might get around to doing something about it. The other day the dog chewed through the cable on the splitter device that splits my phone line and the ASDL cable to my router. Got that fixed the same day. Bought two splitter devices, just in case the dog ever does it again. That's priorities for you.

Licensing, Obfuscation and Copy Protection Toolsif the technology works, then you'll very quickly make that $500 back because people will buy the software instead of copying it. Assuming your software is worth buying, that is. I'd say $500 for something like that is money well spent. No i don't work for the company.

Do you care the technology when choosing a project?I actually prefer to use technologies i'm not expert in, wherever possible, in order to improve my skills.
