Those bits don't say anything by themselves. They make sense iff we assume they're in ASCII. So, in this case, ASCII *IS* a language, and "binary" is its particular alphabet. The same could also be written with decimal or hex, like the English words can be written with "regular" letters or with Braille. Latin letters or braille dots are not language, are they?

Is "binary" a language? -
Is "binary" a language? It's nice to write a decoder, but for this quick task i've 1) merged it to long string 2) divided by groups of 8 bits 3) copy-pasted to excel 4) used to excel functions bin2dec and char, and voila! in 2 minutes. steps 1 and two i did with Textpad macro, but it for such small length it can also be done manually.

Thanks, Red GateI second this. Instead of whining we (or some subset of "we") should just write a new, shiny metal, free, open-source tool. We might call it ".NetScope", "BlackGateReflektor" or something like this. I'm sure someone can also come up with a cooler name.

In case one goes over your headThe writer of xkcd explained is clearly jealous of the xkcd "Author", because in every "explanation" he humiliates the later. For example, in an explanation about a "malamanteau", he writes: Finding humor in word-play is an excellent way to feel superior to other people, without needing to think creatively or experience actual emotions. FTW? Finding humor is experiencing the actual emotion, and to find humor is to think creatively. You could write things like "Doing X is an excellent way to feel superior, etc." - and to substitute X with anything at all. This being written by someone in the internets doesn't make it true or smart. I, for example, do often find humor in word-play, without feeling superior to anyone. To sum it up, the xkcd explained is nothing but an ill-tempered worthless commentary of xkcd. IMO.

How Many Germans Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb? While not familiar with Lojban, the joke probably plays on the fact that the expressions (probably?) are non-associative, and without parentheses it is understood as ((broken light) bulb) i.e. a bulb that emits "broken light" (as A2 actually states). The A2 also states that the verb "change" requires a second operand defining the "destination" of changing ("to change from what to what"). Or am I just being pathetic at trying to explain the trivial issue?

Text ViewerTotal Commander has a wonderful text viewer. It loads file of any size in milliseconds, allows search and fast scrolling, doesn't allow editing/saving. The only problem might be that the viewer is not a standalone application, it's a part of a Total Commander application.

The value of smiplicity in designs and engineeringsolution #1 put the seeds in the flat dish, with an elevated edges, to prevent the seeds from being knocked/spilled to the ground. install the wire mesh (a flat, or a dome-shaped) above that dish, at the right height, to enable only the smaller birds to get to the dish under the mesh. solution #2 put the seeds in the flat dish, with an elevated edges, to prevent the seeds from being knocked/spilled to the ground. install long nails/poles all sticking vertically out of the dish, at the right distances, to enable only the little birds to land on the dish and to walk between the poles.
