Err, no. If it was really built for stability, it wouldn't crash or freeze in the first place.
It's not always the browser's fault for crashing. Any plugin (i.e. Flash) might be the reason.

What's this guy's problem? I think he should start writing about farming, or something similar... actually, strike that, I guess there's too much technology in there, too for him.

Ever try developing on a laptop?
I got two dev machines, both laptops and don't consider getting a desktop ever again. It's nonsense to say that lap tops are underpowered compared to desktops these days. The perks remain, however.

I'm on a look out for a web based (preferably self hosted) task management solution. Not looking for something special... the basic stuff.. multiple projects, each project has a manager that creates and assigns tasks with estimates, the rest of the users (hopefully :) ) finish them, and report the time spent. What are your experiences? What are you using? Are you satisfied with it? [edit] Forgot to mention, it's going to be hosted on a Linux server. [/edit]

Any such tool to recommend? Either online, in which case it'd have to be secure/trusted, because there's some data that's not for everyone's eyes, or a standard desktop app. I know I can google for it, just trying to get some real life experience recommendations. I tried Adobe's own online service, both through e-mail (mail bounced back as too big on a 1.7 MB file) and the web site, and it's still "running" after 30 mins...

I'm feeling sorry for you right now. Honestly, I do. Maybe you should try some real life conversations, so you would get to know some phrases that are used in real life. Maybe try to read some books... you know, the stuff made of paper with bunch of letters in it... aaah, here you go[^] Anything of the sort will do. Referencing wikipedia for what a half is... damn it man, get a life!

You see, the difference is that you were throwing around numbers as if you have accurate statistical data. Half, in the way I used doesn't imply any numbers... It only implies that there were two groups... One that was using Vista and the other that was using XP... How many of each there was... I don't have a clue. You don't either, but you like to think that you do. Sorry for breaking this so hard to you... Hope I don't crush your dreams.

Wow, you were using Win 7 years ago? Must've been a pre-alpha release?
Ammm... I guess you have problem with reading whole sentences. If you try to read it again you'll see that I have seat that I have written Windows off years ago. Windows doesn't automatically mean Windows 7. There were other versions before it. I don't know how long you're on the IT scene, perhaps you just wasn't aware about it.
TheyCallMeMrJames wrote:
Actually, while Win 7 moved towards 8% of the market share, Win XP and Vista combined dropped less than 2%.
There was an interesting talk somewhere on the net saying: when loosing an argument make up statistics.

Because you've had a bad experience on one machine I wouldn't assume "Win 7 is crap"
Totally agree. Win is crap because of a lot of other things.

TheyCallMeMrJames wrote:
Win 7 has been the fastest adopted OS in history
Well, of course it is. Anyone who's been using Vista and those who were smart enough not to needed an update and needed it bad. The first one's were using an OS that crippled their machines, the other ones were using an OS from a different era.
TheyCallMeMrJames wrote:
If it were as bad as you were making it out to be
I just ranted about one single incident. Didn't write Win off because of that. I have written Win off years ago for different reasons. Although, I was amazed at how much more incidents like this are reported throughout the net.

If you have to remove it for the install to go to completion, that certainly suggests it's not entirely healthy.
The same can be said for the W7. If i remove the W7 from the equation everything works perfectly.

I did a memcheck from Ubuntu's live CD. I think it's a reliable enough test. What would you suggest?
