Thanks for the idea with the Circle Line. I actually did the monopoly route on Saturday. I was wrecked but I can say I held down all 26 drinks which is surprising for a lightweight like me. I don't remember the last few though. Cost around £80 for the day but I did more sight seeing that day than I have done in the my 3 month stay so far. Rick Eastes. http://www.eastes.net

.NET Benefit? If you generally distribute your apps over the internet, .NET is severly limiting your potential market due to the 22MB .net framework download. I agree that EVENTUALLY, everyone will have the framework installed, but untill then, would you download a 22.1MB application or a 100Kb application? Rick Eastes. http://www.eastes.net

.NET application to native code? This is a huge problem with .NET If you're a small company and generally don't distribute your apps on CD, .NET is severly limiting your potential market. I've managed to compile C++ 6.0 using Studio.NET and the final exe does not require the 22MB framework but I have been unsuccessful with VB.net I agree that EVENTUALLY, everyone will have the framework installed, but untill then, would you download a 22.1MB application or a 100Kb application? Question on VS.NET and VS6.0 CompatibilityI too am finding the same problems as "theorion16" I don't necessarily agree that we should put up with a 1MB distributable when we can do the same reliably with a 100K distributable. Especially if dealing with certain apps that are widely distributed via the net/email etc... I am in the process of finding a way to link a VC.NET app to older MFC DLL's. Will post results when found. Rick Eastes. ------------

MFC42.DLL in .NET AppsMy MFC application compiles successfully in both VC++7.0 and VC++6.0 but I feel I have wasted my time and money buying VC++7.0 WHY? I need to have a small distributable. Here are two senarios: 1. Compile with .NET Need MFC70.dll which most computers don't have. 2. Compile with VC6 Runs on ALL computers without ANY additional dll's :mad:Surely there is a way using .NET to make the exe link to old dll's like MFC42.DLL and not new ones like MFC70.DLL Rick Eastes. ------------ http://www.eastes.net

MFC42.DLL in .NET AppsObviously. However, the .net framework (20MB) is certainly not small. I don't want to distribute this dll when mfc42.dll would be fine. Rick Eastes. ------------
