Umm actually I have been the ludite everywhere I go. I have an old phone I got when my father passed away. It does not talk or text. But I do have the IRobot app on it so I can schedule my robot vacum. If it weren't for that I would not have one at all. The old one on the Kitchen wall with an old tape answering machine still works great. For F2A I have an android emulator I can fire up if needed. But mostly the F2A just calls my phone. I am free !! And no one is tracking me.... peace out.

Help me, help my BAThanks for your input Member. I wholeheartedly agree with your statement. I always find some confusion and push back from junior people in IT when I tell them there are NO IT projects. There are only business problems that can have an IT solution. But the project itself is less important than solving the business problem.

Help me, help my BAThank you very much, I was unfamiliar with Educause. I will certainly check them out.

Help me, help my BAI understand what you are saying. Especially the part about recruiting from desktop support. We are a small technical college in a very rural area. Evidently HR had a hard time finding any qualified applicants. So they gave the existing employees the job. It was a promotion of sorts. They will definitely be "full stack" BAs. Even having a BA is new to the college. And I am the only programmer on staff. I just support the integrations between all the various systems. So I guess what we need is way different from what 3M, Amazon, and other organizations with large IT staff.

Help me, help my BAThanks so much for your response Yeah I know that part. I was thinking they might also play PM in smaller projects. In our case each BA will have a department they support. Students, HR, Finance so they will become system experts in that part of the system. And to a point that side of the business. Anything else they might be required to do outside of being the middle man between myself and the business side. I should have been more clear in my question. cheers

Help me, help my BAI am not sure if this is the correct place or not. We are starting to migrate ERP systems. As such our team has hired some new BA's. 2 of them came from the desktop support team. I have noticed they seem to be struggling. I asked them yesterday if they had any training or such. The reply was no. I then asked if they wanted some help to understand their new positions. Both of them said yes. Could some of you please tell me what you think are the most important skills, duties or anything else I can share with them to help them grow into their new positions please. cheers

How do you keep time?I am on salary, so I only do it for myself. I started tracking time to help me learn how to estimate. I tried excel sheets, but that was a royal pia. I found Clockify https://app.clockify.me I just open it in a browser and enter what I am going to work on, and just have to go back and enter the next task. If you forget, you can adjust the time. You create and remove your own projects. Has a simple, but effective reporting. It is nice to run the report on Fri afternoon, so I can tell the boss how I spent their time that week. I use the free version, not sure what the paid version offers. The free version does have something about billable/non billable. But again I am not sure what that does. cheers
