I am not initializing OLE as the code I am testing is generated by AppWizard and I haven't added anything yet. I did have one AfxOleInit in InitInstance and uncommenting it doesn't help. Interesting thing is if I take the code to another machine, after building if works fine. So I am pretty sure that it a comfiguration problem rather than a coding bug. I would reinstall VS but I dont have time right now. Saurabh

ofstream is output file stream and wofstream is output file stream for wide characters. For input there are ifstream and wifstream. -Saurabh

What is the runtime exception? Who is throwing it? You should not need to rebuild all your static libraries with /clr. You only need the /clr switch for the interop files - those the bridge the native and the managed world. gmileka

Looks like you didn't get much of an answer, make is about the most general build tool out there.

sorry I forget to mention that this is not a MFC application. I am trying to do this in a console application. anyway I found the solution here[^]. It says use /FC (Full Path of Source Code File in Diagnostics) to get absolute paths using __FILE__. It seems somwhow MFC do that for you in debug but not in release build, although I don't see this switch enabled in the settings. -Saurabh -- modified at 2:45 Friday 6th January, 2006

There is 2 definitions for UINT_PTR: if _WIN64 is defined it is a unsigned __int64 (a integer on 64 bit) if not it is defined as an unsigned int (a integer on 32 bit) Eric

Try this (or some other integer type - i.e. double, long, etc...) int64 powerValue=int64(pow(base,power)) this tells the compiler that you want to use the old version of pow and not the new one with complex numbers
