  • How many screens?
    S Scott Corbett

I've found that two has the biggest impact in regards to improved productivity. It hurts when I have to take the laptop out of the docking station and use it's "small" 17" screen all by itself. Three monitors is nice, but doesn't have the impact of two. Any more than three and I find the additional view space to be distracting. I can see how having additional screens for monitoring systems might be helpful, but I'd want them to be hooked into another machine rather than a part of my rig.

  • The Laziness of LINQ

This isn't isolated to LINQ. You see the same behavior in for/foreach loops as well. The only time I use single letters is when the variable is for an index.

  • Switch boolean.... (reinventing if, unnecessarily)

You're right about the switch case and fall through. Been spending too much time playing with C++ lately. My apologies.

  • Switch boolean.... (reinventing if, unnecessarily)
    S Scott Corbett

Umm...that's not true. A switch will continue to fall through until you get to a break statement or the end of the switch (i.e. the default case.) On the other hand, if/else statements do bail as soon as the first passing conditional is found and the associated code block is executed.

I think there should be an open parentheses followed by a double quote after in the call to escape(). Scott E. Corbett Software Engineer/Analyst The JK Group, Inc.
